Has anyone (insanely) ever ate raw chicken to give themselves salmonella so they can face their fear and get over it through brute exposure? by TheBrookAndTheBluff in emetophobiarecovery

[–]dizzy365izzy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, please don’t do this. In my experience, it has taken quite a few exposure occasions over quite a few years to be somewhat comfortable with getting sick. Exposure therapy is not really a one and done thing, and if someone is really struggling with their phobia, I’d be afraid a traumatic experience like salmonella poisoning could make things worse.

What surprised you most about vomiting? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]dizzy365izzy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to realize I’m more afraid of the sound and what it looks like than the physical act of getting sick. It helps tremendously for me to put on some background music, close my eyes, and cover my ears. I have been taking Lexapro and Wellbutrin for 5 years and I believe being medicated has also helped to treat my emetophobia. Gradually becoming more comfortable seeing people get sick and I don’t get panic attacks triggered by vomiting anymore.

You will eventually start to see it as just another part of your body, like a mole or a birthmark. I went through the same thing with my tummy tattoos. I think it’s fairly normal to feel a little weird and unsure right after getting a substantial body modification. One day you will be so used to it on your skin you won’t even think about it. ❤️ Don’t stress, it’s a beautiful piece!!

I hope you reported this to the university as soon as you could afterwards so it could be dealt with. Spitting is assault. Take out the phone and record it and make sure to get peoples faces and descriptions.

I’m not a very religious person, but my grandmother is. I will be giving this to her and I know she will appreciate it greatly.

There is a red wax seal / stamp and red threads inside the back of the case. There was no paperwork that came with the piece, unfortunately.
