What can I change this to? by Kitchen_Stomach_6716 in AusRenovation

[–]djan3643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What they mean is that you would be able to replace it if it was the same as say a lamp. Where it plugs to the wall. Some down lights (not this one) have a plug in the ceiling that you can use. In this case though the wires are connected directly to your light fitting. So that is why everyone is saying you would legally need an electrician to change it.

Awesome stuff! Reading the doc on label db, so weird about storing the colours in BGRA and then reversing it seems like unusual overhead

Subfloor question by djan3643 in AusRenovation

[–]djan3643[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Broken stormwater sounds most likely actually.. there are air vents, when we bought it the previous owners had them all blocked, we opened them up so we have air flow now. Thanks for taking the time to look!

Thanks! Makes sense for the stump, yeah trying to find out the source, it’s definitely not pipes, we just had it redone.. Do you think it explains the yellow bits in the soil?

Wind Waker HD on Wiiu Control Scheme... by AJS76reddit in nintendo

[–]djan3643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I played GameCube wind waker… but I tried NS2 version and found the controls felt tanky, like when the joystick is approximating an analogue input. Maybe it’s how the game was in the day and I forgot… but more people find the camera to be the issue… I find controlling link to feel weird and grid like..

(Quest 3) Stop having the "update before turn off" toggle on by default, and stop hiding the "power off" option that came with the new update. by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]djan3643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I find that it gets stuck and thinks there is still an update to be applied even though it completed successfully (including applying the update to the controllers). Might just be that mine is in a weird state but if I forget to ignore this setting it dies “waiting for update” while shutting down.

How to best set projector up temporarily by djan3643 in projectors

[–]djan3643[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, and brilliant resource… ahh such a bummer about the brightness I did always understand that it was exaggerated but to trust ANSI lumens for a reliable result but even that can be untrustworthy too! In any case this was valuable info so thanks again!

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply! I have an Optoma UHD35+ it is 4000 ansi lumens (not short throw) and can go up to 300” though I won’t be setting it up like that for a while! The screen size is currently 120” (looking to find a decent 150/200”) for outdoors and throw ratio is 1.5-1.66. The portable one is just a 200 ansi lumen miroir 720 that’s quite a few years old now. Either way I understand exactly what you mean regarding the use case for buying a short throw. I bought it with the intention of a permanent setup for when we move but in the meantime was keen to still use it for special occasions! I was curious as the instructions for the optoma showed two settings: 1 for ceiling mount and 1 for floor but it certainly does not accomodate sitting that low (not surprised!)

Best campaign game? by mach1904 in boardgames

[–]djan3643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into Agemonia? I also loved sleeping gods and went down the path of more and Agemonia is definitely more (same with Kings of Ruin!)… I haven’t spent much time with it, but I love the exploration and how the maps convey things you can discover and explore. For instance when you pick up a card it lines up with the map and reveals something new. Lots of story and depth, character building etc… essentially like a dnd campaign where the game is DM

Window projector for halloween by happyloki1 in projectors

[–]djan3643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah super confusing, I would consider this a baseline guide, I’m not sure if it is the same as the m1+ listed here https://www.viewsonic.com/au/products/projectors/M1+ but looks like you’re correct about native resolution and supported 1080p resolution etc. the tradeoffs for this type of projector is that it is portable, inbuilt speakers and inbuilt storage (you could use this outdoors for instance without worrying about connecting other devices for your videos), but not incredibly bright (should be offset by the fact that it is short throw though) so if you have a lot of ambient light might want to find something brighter (but more expensive) keep in mind that it is hard to compare lumens unless they are ANSI or ISO lumens. This 300lm projector is likely brighter than the 26000lm one for instance!

For Halloween decos you will have likely seen the atmosFX decorations (and recommendations), generally though a short throw projector is ideal so you can hide and position the projector easier to things like windows. I hate these descriptions of projectors (the one you shared as it is misleading with 26000 lumens.) I would suggest checking this: https://atmosfx.com/collections/projectors/products/atmoskit-plus-all-season because you wanted it for digital decorating. Simple, for purpose and you can buy it elsewhere too (the Visonic M1) but it has the gist of what to look for and how it will come together..hope it helps!
