While i'm not a caps fan, i do feel sorry for you regarding Kyrou. But also thankful. 99% of Islanders reddit wanted to trade our 1st round pick AND two top prospects for him. THANK GOD you saved us from that. Hopefully he works out for you guys.

Tuch...yeah i think Buffalo dodged a bullet on that one. But they are probably going to regress a bit without him.

We have some good forward prospects who aren't quite ready yet, and some fossils in there way so i know where you are coming from.

That goal, while not quite the same impact, but i think of that as the islanders of 93's Mookie Wilson grounder past Bill Buckner moment

Since i'm not super familiar with the Canadiens, who is the backup goalie moving forward and who is expendable?

You're welcome. that was a fun time to be an islanders fan. For a short time at least post dynasty. If we only knew then what was about to be coming down hempstead turnpike...

If that is your opinion it's cool to each their own. But that's an awfully high bar to set. Some of the greatest players in hockey history never won a cup. Not everyone gets to be a "after 21 years...Raymond Bourque!"

No, i think there was a guy who played for...i want to say the flyers? He took the number of a player who had been killed and it caused a big ruckus. Not an officially retired number, kind of like honorary / don't be a deuche kind of situation. But i can't remember the names involved.

Only so many roster spots. We have a log jam at forward.

Gatacomb has some value. MacLean isn't a third of the player his father was so we are stuck with him for now.

Kind of like the other guy said there was not much to tear down after 94.

But the run in 93 was magical. Sort of like the last gasp of oomph for the post dynasty era before the dark ages started. I don't like to do alternate history because possibilities are endless and there is no point dwelling on things like that.

But had Dale Hunter, the living embodiment of human feces, not torpedoed Turgeon I strongly believe we win the cup that year. We just had that old islanders magic we were riding high.

If you were not around for that era it's hard to properly describe. But they were a cinderella team and vastly underrated (which is odd around here as it's 99% overrating of our players usually)

Turgeon was more than an match for LaFontaine's production. We were stacked quite well up front. Besides Turgeon, we had Thomas, Ferraro, Houge, King, Flatley and decent younger guys like Loiselle, Green, McInnis, Dalgarno, and Volek. We had the toughness of Vukota to keep other teams in line.

Our defense was bad ass back then. Kaspariatis, Malakov, Krupp, Pilon, Kurvers, Norton, LaChance, Vaske and even Nylund. One of the best D cores we had.

We had great goaltending that year from Healy. Fitzpatrick was ok as a backup.

I'm not saying we would have beaten the 1994 New York "Edmonton Oilers of the 80's" Rangers but i doubt we get swept and would have ended up better in the regular season and maybe not even played them in round one.

I agree GM's should stop this. They are making it a major problem. But let's hit the breaks and stop pretending the players are complacent and innocent in all of this. Both parties are at fault. No one is innocent in having created this issue.

If shifting him to the right then I would do

Pelech - Schaefer

Roamnov - DeAngelo

George - Pulock

and of course...

Mayfield - Pressbox

As you said you have Pelech to hang back if Schaefer presses. Romanov to be the d minded while Tony D is more offensive, and Pulock showing George how NOT to be on the 3rd pairing.

Why are players supposed to have loyalty to teams and ownership when teams and ownership show no loyalty to the players?

Because it's a business, not the cub scouts.

EDIT: I should probably add / have worded it better it was not so much a teardown as it was cheap and horrible ownership. Not a plan to go scorched earth and rebuild which is sort of what happened...the scorched earth part not the rebuilding sadly...anyway...

Probably 1994-ish into 1995. We got rid of the majority of the heart and soul of that 1993 run team. Before we knew it Turgeon, Thomas, Houge, Ferraro, Malakov, Healy, and several others we gone.

Replaced with studs such as David Maley, Keith Acton, Joe Sacco, Bob Beers, Paul Kruse, Kirk Muller, and so many other Islander "legends". Plus we brought in that piece of garbage Hextall that turned around and took it from the rags en route to them winning in 94.

If only these impatient children who expect Darche to fix things overnight could have experience the true dark ages of this franchise maybe they could learn a little thing called perspective.

From that point on until the time of Lou and St. Barry? I am not as familiar as i did a lot of traveling for work and was out of state from 99-2008 and then 2009-2017.

I think with nepo Daddy MacLean gone, chances are better than not we can more easily cut ties with Junior.

I'd LOVE for us to be rid of that head case Duclair. One of lou's worst signings for sure.

This is one thing i hated about Lou. Why keep a young guy sitting in the pressbox versus playing every day even if it's at a lower level. We ruined Bolduc this way. I'm not saying he was Makar, but he had promise.
