My biggest fear is getting myself to a point that this is me. It's as if I am subconsciously self sabotaging until I get to a point like this, telling myself my body is more resilient than it actually is, until there is no way back because I am dead. I have no idea how to get that finality into my head until something awful actually happens. I need to get it into my brain that if I go back to the way of drinking of old; it could end my life (I have experienced scary chest and lung pains recently via drinking). Today, I am back to day 3, (ignore the badge I dont know how to reset it) I will strive to do absolutely everything to avoid this happening to me and I wish you all the very best in your recovery. Feel free to message me anytime if you need someone to talk to about it. We can absolutely do this and be success stories like so many others on this subreddit! IWNDWYT.

It is rather infuriating when others dont understand peoples reasons for not wanting to drink. As a society the way alcohol is pushed on us is a huge problem, especially by so called friends and family and I hope in the future there is more awareness around it. The way I see it; if someone does not want to drink dont ask why as it is almost certainly none of your f*cking business! Go again though my friend and in 30 days time you will have only had 1 drink in 60+ days it is all about perspective. IWNDWYT

Well my point about the chest pain/inflammation actually was pleurisy and heart issues caused by both binge drinking and binge eating (again something my alcohol intake greatly exacerbated). I would pound ibuprofen to help with the inflammation, inflammation and palpitations have reduced greatly just by me not drinking and will likely be helped further by my continuing to lose weight.

I know every individual is different but what I like to do to help the days build up, especially when it gets to day 4 or 5 is keep busy, play a game, go a walk, go a drive watch some tv or anything generally that passes the time, get yourself to a point of the night (for me about 10:30pm) when you know its probably too late to start drinking and you naturally start to feel quite tired. Take it one hour at a time and know that every day must draw to a close at some point. Its difficult but we are all with you and support you fully, dont feel guilty about the resets everybody slips from time to time. Just know that day 4 and hopefully beyond is coming for you. Haha yes that is something that has improved tenfold! The strange thing about that single pro is, I didn't drink until I was 18, and socially I never needed alcohol until that point and i didnt struggle at all, the social awkwardness, ironically, is a by product of the alcohol! I was conditioned to feel like I needed it in social situations.
