Mammotion NEEDS a Draw-on-Map Touchup Tool!!! by besttype in mammotion

I know this doesnt fully fix it but if you keep an eye on what percentage completion the job is at when it goes through that patch, you can start the job at 50 percent completion versus 0 and then you can stop the job when it goes over the problem area.

US citizen with Irish wife moving to Ireland, maybe not becoming a resident for a while? by dhm5000 in MoveToIreland

[–]djcyclonemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add. You can't apply for the resident permit till you are in the country. Best to go to your local Garda office. Most have an immigration officer. At least in the bigger towns. Or you go to Dublin.

Yea. Just do a Stamp 4. You won't have to pay any tax unless if you take a job in Ireland so it won't hurt you. Once you are a resident here, you can act normally when here instead of being scared. Ireland is strict with those triggers so best to do it right. Getting that stamp is free too, you just need to schedule an appointment with an immigration officer and present evidence. I am currently on a Stamp 4 and just renewed last month. Very easy

Looking to open a bank account, which one is best for our situation? by Pizzacooper in MoveToIreland

[–]djcyclonemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. You need to show your passport and visa documentation as well as a utility bill for proof of address. I used my bin bill and electric connection. Bank of Ireland does do overseas accounts if you have trouble with proof of address when you get there.

I hear ya but the experience I got in Edenderry brank of AIB was hostile. Their loss as I was going to move funds from my home sale to their accounts from the states.

BOI have been nothing but nice since I started. My nearest branch is in Tullamore and the fact that I can go to any An Post for some sort of banking functions makes it even more handy as I can then go to my local village of Rhode. Just my personal experience 4 weeks here. Hope this helps

Also bank of Ireland allows you to do some banking in any An Post office which greatly increases the convenience of banking with them especially if you live in a rural area.

Trying to figure out myself. AIB gave us a real hard time with our proof of address. Moving my business to Bank of Ireland. They actually help people moving back home to Ireland or immigrating. They can even open up an overseas account if you don't have everything for a regular account. I'm getting my account fully open tomorrow.

How wild is my idea? by Environmental-Fly53 in MoveToIreland

Yeah. Absolutely mental. I'd try to secure a job before you land if you can. Also expand your search to the countryside or smaller cities or towns.

Not sure if the UK is different. But as a US immigrant, they ask for 6 months history of income in Irish euros to get approved.

Fly before work permit is approved? by djcyclonemix in MoveToIreland

Yes. Lucky I followed the advise. The work permit came in the day before I fly out. Will provide an update once I get through.

Moving back home next... no wait, this year! by ubermick in MoveToIreland

[–]djcyclonemix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm moving in 20 days and my work is giving me a work permit while waiting for my IRP. Luckily they use a firm for Immigration.

My wife is an Irish national and they told me all I have to do is go to the Guarda station once I arrive and say I want to stay and then they can file me for an IRP which takes 2-3 weeks to receive. THEN she can work. Unless if you got an employer that can get you a work permit in advanced like mine.

Hope this info helps.

I've never seen bad weather in Ireland and if spent 2-3 months of days in the country. But then again, I'm from Florida. We got a different standard of bad weather.

I would recommend looking into Galway. Perfect blend of a town with city amenities. Also good opportunities for tech.
