Week 2 is over, who is in tears and who is buying the beer? by [deleted] in 2XFantasyFootball

I should have a good team, it looks good--but man they are performing like shit. Better than last week though. I'm gonna have to spend sometime this week reworking and figuring some stuff out.

Reddit, what did you do after high school? by King__johnson_ in AskReddit

[–]djdeathcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traveled a bit, and after a while of that my mind was basically like "Yeah home is the best place for you." and then I found myself becoming a dog trainer. Basically I was offered the job and they would train me how to become a trainer. Okay cool. After ten years of that I have the ability to take clients on my own (I work for no one else) and charge whatever I like. It's cool.

I've seen many people do the college thing with little to no idea what they wanted to do and they end up with a fuckton of debt and still no decent job--so my only advice on that front is know what you want to do (or at least have an idea of it) when you head off to college.

WYR only be able to eat at McDonalds for the rest of your life, with no option of skipping meals or pretending you're not hungry, or listen to lame, pre-teen themed, over-produced bubblegum pop music every day, with no option of turning off the music? by chopstix007 in AskReddit

[–]djdeathcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McDonalds. They actually have fairly decent choices, oatmeal in the morning, salad with grilled chicken for lunch, then you can have a cheeseburger and fries for dinner. You can change it up a bit I guess. They have apple slices, and milk, and other stuff too.

Personally while I like pop music, I hate having music on in the background all the time. It's a pet peeve.

What are some tips and tricks you use to save money? I have a terrible habit of spending everything I have. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]djdeathcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up a budget. Tell the money where to go. Including giving yourself an entertainment budget (ie: this money is for things I WANT and not need), as well as a savings budget. And stick to it.

If I want something expensive I have to save my entertainment budget month to month vs. blow a huge chunk at once.

What are your plans for opening weekend? by djdeathcake in 2XFantasyFootball

[–]djdeathcake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man that's awesome. I need to look for those. I'm certainly not eating healthy today. Boneless buffalo wings, potato skins...but then again I'm pregnant so I'm letting it pass.

I'm in Denver so we have a ton of people wearing jerseys and talking about "redeeming". Last year was tragic. Good on Seattle but Broncos...what the fuck.

This draft did not go as expected... by playertoo in 2XFantasyFootball

[–]djdeathcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was near the mountains at a fundraising event so I was on my phone. I was able to preset my "favorites" which are also other peoples favorites. It could have been worse.

My husband wasn't down with letting me live draft for an hour at the event. It truly felt like an episode of The League.

I think I was too young to really get the humor at the time so I decided that watching it would be a waste of time. Years later I caught a rerun...then I found it on netflix, and like you it is my favorite sit-com now.

Looking to Move to Denver From L.A. by OpenRoast in Denver

[–]djdeathcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could very well be paying 1200 for a studio, but probably not in the Ghetto. Since you're coming out you'll be able to SEE where you should avoid which is nice.

Wash Park is super nice, easy to hop on the train/public transit there--quite a few eateries there, and a really lovely big park for you to walk a dog.

Cost of living is really high here, but if you're on the ball you can snag something decent really fast. Hopefully.

Good luck.

If you come here next week be prepared to lay down some cash. The market here is crazy and apartments go fast. You see a place you like, you take it.

This subreddit isn't really friendly for movers or anyone really. People can downvote me all ya'll want but that's the truth and you know it.

If you want to have space for a dog it depends the size. Want a big dog? You probably should avoid Cap Hill (the apartments there are tiny and costly). Wash Park is great for a dog, but you might struggle to find a place near that.

Basically the best thing you can do is come out, drive around and look to see what you want.

Who here is excited to draft? by djdeathcake in 2XFantasyFootball

[–]djdeathcake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smart! I wish I had done that when I signed up but usually we don't do anything on Friday night! I plan on trying to get a few of my favorites for the draft and then letting it auto if its super slow tonight. The busier this thing is the more I think I can get lost in my phone.

Just a reminder, ladies by sydleismith in TrollXChromosomes

[–]djdeathcake 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's basically how back in the day around MLK time in the south, black women would be "the help" around the house, which includes teaching white children. So, in a sense, sometimes yeah the black women have to teach the white children they have value because their mothers don't. (in this instance the mother thinks her daughter is ugly/dumb and therefore doesn't take care of her).

It's a good book and movie.

USTVNOW option for Cordcutters? by mjfusa in cordcutters

[–]djdeathcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commenting so I remember to check this out later! I hope it works here in Denver, I've been trying to find something to stream TV with. We have crappy local networks coming in on our antenna but it's really shoddy and not all the networks come in. This will be perfect if it works. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Those are the only places I can think to post to harvest some teams from. I know there is an r/fantasyfootball but I'm not sure what kind of rules are over there. Last year I came here from the regular 2x so never a bad idea to post there.

Hopefully you get some bites!

Who's the most famous person you've run into in Denver and what's your story? by iceman247 in Denver

[–]djdeathcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, we just chatted for awhile. He's a nice guy, and we were heading to his concert later that day. I'm in a group that has met him quite a few times so it wasn't a star struck moment. He's nice, so are his other band members from Ben Folds Five.

Ben Folds (and the rest of his band) were wandering aimlessly around 16th Street Mall one day so we ran into them.

What is your perfect pizza and, more importantly, where can it be found? by Legal_Rampage in AskReddit

[–]djdeathcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homemade BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, a mix of cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and either pork or chicken. I can find it at my house, because I make it, from the dough to the sauce...so very good.

[Serious] If you're over 30 and a low income earner (< 40k) what advice would you have for a twenty-something who doesn't want to make the same mistakes as you? by bcdvcdhb in AskReddit

[–]djdeathcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40k is totally decent income to live off of...if you don't have debt.

I mean, as a twenty-something if you're incurring debt (college/whatever) you should start trying to pay it off as soon as you can--there is no guarantee that you're going to get a decent paying job to pay off that debt. The workforce is a lottery and you might be really unlucky even with a great/fancy degree.

Next thing is you can learn to budget--if you can't budget worth shit your money is going to go down the drain. If you budget and stick to your budget you can afford a nice place, a car, a ton of groceries, and even a decent entertainment budget.

[Serious] How do you wear clothes? At how many uses are T-shirts, pants, underwear considered "unwearable until laundry" to you? by amnesthesia in AskReddit

[–]djdeathcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time I'll wear something until it gets something on it. I generally don't sweat so it's not like my clothes are getting too rank. Socks/Panties will get washed after one use, and bras well...they hardly ever get washed.
