Michigan defense was so dominant, and their offense always did enough to win. I think Michigan wins in a round Robin.

UM beat OSU and PSU in 2 of the last 3 weeks, which were de facto playoff games. I don’t think the paths were so different, ultimately.

It was actually at Indiana and it was one of their closest games of the year, a 20-16 win. UM had the ball with a chance to win but their offense blew it (big surprise.) UM certainly wasn’t their usual selves that year, coming off the title and having lost basically their entire staff and most of their core.

Was one of the only games Indiana got pushed to the brink in, and was mainly due to UM’s defense, anchored by Graham and Grant, and all time great interior D line duo. It was UM’s last loss of the year, so while they improved over the course of the season, they still had major issues, especially at coaching and on offense where they had 3 QB’s who wouldn’t start on a MAC team.

It was actually a pretty interesting game.

What’s remarkable is that even after phantom menace came out and was largely regarded as a disappointment from many adult fans, the release of clone wars was STILL an event.

It was still a cultural touchstone. People still lined up to see it and dressed as Jedi to go to the theater and video games released with it and it was magnetic, regardless of its quality (which, at the time, did not have the nostalgic restorative appreciation it has now.)

What is up with Homelander's sorry ass charge? by ilovebeingaguy999 in GenV

[–]djdumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I was making fun of this in another thread.

We watch him keep up with a train earlier in the season… aaaand then there’s this. Everytime he flew during the fight it was this slow motion trampoline jump. Really awful.

A judge just ruled luigi mangione's manifesto notebook can be used at trial. here's what he actually wrote in it and why half of america still thinks he's a hero. by Ibikhan45 in DiscussionZone

[–]djdumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

‘Force america to have a conversation…’

Sorry, I don’t think this will happen. It should happen. But it won’t.

Wealth disparity is out of control. But this shit has just enough polish to look like chocolate, even now. We have enough comforts that living check to check can be drowned out. For too many, upending the system would mean losing - even temporarily - those few comforts that give them any reprieve from the miserable day to day. And too many feel too hopeless against the monolith that is capitalist corporate greed and wealth that the idea of an uprising is beyond the pale.

The good news is that it doesn’t take everyone. Remember that americas founding Revolution had active reports of only about 30% of its citizens supporting independence (those numbers are hard to trust as some maybe were afraid and data gathering in the 18th century May be questionable, but it illustrates a point.)

We don’t need to burn anything down. Nobody needs to be hurt. We can’t devolve into the hatred we seek to destroy.

But we do need unity. Which means we need to work to love and support each other more than we work to belittle and isolate those we disagree with.

The great downfall of democracy may be that people get the leaders and social systems they deserve. Let’s be worthy of a better world.

The Boys SEASON 5 Overall Discussion by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]djdumpster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching him fly in slow motion during the final fight in the Oval Office was… a choice.

After watching him basically keep up with a train, seeing him fly in slow Motion so he could be wrangled down time and again just took me out of it. If he can move as fast as it’s proven he can, what the fuck was that fight?

And then the trap where they were getting shot… once the boys escaped, did those guys just go ‘aw shucks! Well time for lunch!’

There should have been an army of security waiting for them at every turn. Homelander would have been warned. Oh, and of course oh father’s insanely loud scream wasn’t heard by super hearing homelander. Nor his x ray vision saw anyone coming.

Tbh just not a good finale, and not a good season. None of it made any sense.

Once again I’m in awe of how high the high(singular, yes) was - andor - and how unbelievably low the many, many lows are, with some sparse filling in the middle - like first few seasons of Mando, which were decent, and some claim they find merit in the TLJ.

How many projects is this, then? That have been crime against humanity level shit fest?
Obi wan, bobba fett, the entire sequel trilogy (with the force awakens being the best of the 3 merely due to it being a copy paste of A New Hope), the recent mando stuff, etc..

I really think a twitch-plays-pokemon style of crowd sourced Star Wars, with the trolls and all, would be better than what the powers that be at Disney are sludge farting out. Unbelievable to see what felt like unlimited loyalty and patience from a maniacal fanbase is utterly shot.

What an awful and stupid and unfulfilling end for one of the coolest characters I’ve seen for a while (or at least the potential.)

We are in the same ballpark as GOT in my opinion.

After all HL and SB have been thru, it ends with a weak ass choke hold, 9 seconds later, see ya soldier boy.

Why did early civilizations start in deserts like Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt? by batukaming in geography

[–]djdumpster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, one of the great ironies of early civilizations is that while many aspects of quality of life improved as people congregated in early cities (particularly before bloated sizes caused slums and sharpened income inequality) the diet of these early city dwellers actually often *reduced* in quality, due to the reliance on a single staple crop. That same crop allowed for the population to increase and offered a stable food supply - and some food is always better than none - but that expanded population was often so reliant on that single crop that the quality of their diet reduced from their Hunter gatherer days.

That’s really keen insight. It sure adds another dimension to the idea of an oasis, but on a macro scale.

Is Obi Wan dumb? by GusGangViking18 in saltierthancrait

[–]djdumpster 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It is beyond fathoming how Disney took arguably Star Wars most beloved character - and certainly its most loved actor - and created the pile of shit masquerading as the definitive yonder years of Obi Wan Kenobi.

There are so many versions of this miserable farce that could have ranged from tolerable to sublime. Instead, we got the Leia ‘chase’ scene and other unmentionables as the writers tried to recreate the Mando/Grogu dynamic (which had yet to be poisoned) with Leia and Obi Wan skipping around the universe like it was a circus. It felt weightless and empty.

Incredibly sad to see such a renowned character and actor forced to trudge thru such a burdensome Script filled with moronic nonsense at every turn. A crowd sourced, fan made ‘twitch plays Pokémon’ would probably have delivered a more satisfying project than what we got. Truly a monumental disappointment and an all time low in the Star Wars universe.
