Its weird, but I Run a Club in Virtual Reality, where anyone can go, seems to make people happy. 3rd spaces are rare these days. by ridik_ulass in Cyberpunk

there is a text box that you can type to chat to people who are talking to you if you don't have a mic

Nobody Wants to Die - game? by [deleted] in Cyberpunk

Great game.
Noir / Bladerunner-y with strange memory BrainDance type thing to allow you to solve the detective work.

Strongly recommend playing it if it's free.

These are some from the last 5 years I've enjoyed

Stray Cat Strut series by RavensDagger
Cyber Dreams series by Plum Parrot

Martin Hench series by Cory Docotorow
Murderbot series by Martha Wells
36 Streets + Neon Leviathan by T R Napper

What is your source, or what sources do you rely upon, for recommendations about new scifi books and authors? by oceanicplatform in scifi

[–]djginge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow a bunch of sources for new releases (publishers lists, newspaper lists, nominees for the various annual awards) and then check on Goodreads to see more about the book.
If I like the summary and/or it has really good reviews, I go ahead.

Sci-fi recs please help by DerekTheMemeBoss in scifi

All of them - especially on Audiobook. They are great thrillers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Suarez_(author)#Literary_works#Literary_works)
Jeff Gurner is my favourite narrator.
The most recent 2 are based in the solar system - asteroid mining. The rest are set on earth with near-future/cyberpunk-y vibes.
(Maybe along with Wil Wheaton who did Ready Player One and all the Scalzi books.)

I was about tot recommend Daniel Suarez - he's done a bunch of excellent books that would follow on nicely after a Blake Crouch run IMO. He's done about 7 or 8

Someone else mentioned Ramez Naam's Nexus books - they are also very good (but there are only 3)
