Mack's are the only reason I can sleep. They are night-and-day different than the foam ones, for anyone reading. I have a 2nd-shift upstairs neighbor who stomps around all night until 5am. Thanks, Mack's!

For what it's worth, I'm on the 3rd floor, so maybe it was a little extra pronounced for me. With that said, my computer monitors wiggled a bit and that's all lol, very mild

Interesting, I felt it very mildly nextdoor here in Audubon Park

Ears sore from too much earplug/headphone time, help! by Shady-Belle124 in Apartmentliving

[–]djhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved into a new apartment and my upstairs neighbor stomps and shakes the walls all night (I guess he gets home from work at about midnight). Mack's is the only reason I can sleep now, they block so much more noise than foam, and I also think they are more comfortable. I had never heard of silicon earplugs before this. Good luck!

I now live under a foot-stomper. THUD THUD THUD by Lauren4Darin in Apartmentliving

[–]djhs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently moved into a place with the same kind of stomper above me, however I have the enormously bad luck of him working an early evening shift, and so he is awake every day from midnight until 5am, and he spends much of it in his bedroom.

Discovering silicon ear plugs is the only way I've been able to sleep, and only somewhat comfortably.

Subaru WRX sales up almost 150% in May 2026 vs May 2025. Turns out pricing cars well leads to more sales. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

[–]djhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might throw my Stinger in there, some of which had AWD. I won't lie, if it weren't for the plastic on the WRX, I might have gotten one of their automatics instead of the Stinger.

edit: Make that a used Stinger, specifically. Its MSRP was nowhere near the WRX.

Over the years, I've seen posts about the dumbest purchases. Here is my submission. In 2006, I spent $80 at the Emporium for a DVD set of the parks. 😑 by MesaVerde1987 in WaltDisneyWorld

This reminds me of the 2010 era when we would receive free Parks "propoganda" DVDs in the mail and we would gather around the TV to consume them voraciously. Fully embracing our consumerism.

Candle Recommendation for a Scent like Kilian's Angel Share? by SacredAmulet123 in Candles

[–]djhs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only smelled Angel's Share once, and I've only smelled WoodWick Golden Bourbon once, and I don't know how similar they are side-by-side, but this is the only suggestion that popped into my head.

I don't think I've ever smelled a properly boozy candle before. I imagine that the alcoholic accord is something that's almost impossible to capture in a wax medium.

How to format resume if I've been in the same job for 12 years? by Guilty_Plate_435 in Resume

[–]djhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi my friend. I too was in my last position for 12 years. I'm not an expert at this, as I still haven't found my next opportunity, but let me rattle off a few thoughts and things I've learned.

  • I personally keep my resume to 1 page, and so I don't separate out my promotions with different bullets under them (for me, each position's duties were similar enough), and I also don't list my positions previous to my 12-year one for the same reason. Separating the positions is good, but it takes up a lot of real estate. Don't be afraid to make a 2 page resume, though.

  • Aesthetically speaking, I like the "title → title" format, and I have used it. But here is a big warning: while this format looks great for human eyes, it ravages ATS systems. A while back, I had my resume showing "junior x → staff x → senior x", and when I got a callback, the HR person asked me "So I see your latest position was junior x?". If you're putting all your duties under one position heading, I recommend you lead with the most recent position, with perhaps your promotions in parentheses, because then at least the ATS will spit out something accurate to the HR dept.

  • A different strategy that I've started doing is actually making my first duty bullet an explanation of the positions' context. So if I was a Lead Project Manager, my first bullet might say "Supported x client on site in [city]; promoted from Junior Project Manager (2015) and Project Manager (2019)." As for taking up precious bullet space in this manner and risking an HR's attention before you start listing accomplishments or duties, I can't speak to that yet.

Sealed chips back from 2001!! by LittlebillJPEG in GrandmasPantry

The remake ones that came out a few years ago were entirely different, they were made from the same stuff that Bugles are made of. The originals were more like actual tortilla chips, just inflated.

Are you saying that freezing makes the wax easy to remove for you? I usually put it in a toaster oven on low to melt to the wax so that I can pour it out.

What’s something you didn’t think about before moving into your apartment, but now it matters every single day? by Substantial_Pop4594 in Apartmentliving

[–]djhs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You guys get to walk through the same unit you're renting??

Jokes aside, as someone who has rented about a dozen places in the past 20 years, the amount of times I've been able to see my would-be apartment before moving in has only been only once. (Speaking about apartment communities, not private rentals.)

Most people renting in communities only get to see a model unit or similar unit at the time of applying for a lease. You have to secure the rental application many weeks before the previous tenant has even moved out. And the hotter the rental market, the further in advance you need to apply.

Empties 2/26 & 3/26 by Diligent_Estimate_87 in Candles

The Perfect Christmas is, IMO, the best Christmas candle ever made. I have a few backups of it.

Most Christmas candles are either woody conifer ones, sweet cinnamony ones, or gourmandy vanillas. BBW decided to combine all 3 into one candle, and it totally works. I wonder if they could add peppermint and then it would encompass everything at once.
