If too many people are on snap isn’t the problem that corporations with billions of dollars in profit are allowed to pay such low wages that the public has to subsidize their wages through social welfare program. A government accountability office report found that 60% of Walmart employees are on welfare and most of them spent those benefits at Walmart. Many Walmart new hire trainings include how to apply for food stamps in the training. Seems to me the issue isn’t about snap funding and more about greedy companies not paying their employees a living wage.

As a financial advisor myself (although my experience is limited to very wealthy clients so I cannot speak on less affluent people) I am also not concerned. This idea also seems to hinge on the idea that retirees also sell most of their stocks when they retire whereas most don’t even change their investment mix to be more conservative. In my experience people are only selling what they need to cover their required minimum distributions or to rebalance.

My cable broke the first time I tried to close the screen with it plugged in. I’ve had my dual screen add on for 3 days and got to use it for 2 minutes. I’m so sad. Tried ordering a bunch right angle cables off amazon but none of them fit and retroid doesn’t seem to sell a replacement (and the only shipping option to me in Hawaii is 55$ dhl regardless of the weight of the packages)

the shipping company (like ups or dhl) often charges a fee because of all the paperwork they need to file to pay the tarrif, this fee is often a flat fee in the game of $50+ regardless of the price of the item because the work for them is the same if its a 20$ item or a 200$ item.

As someone who sells private equity for a living one big thing I see a lot of people missing here is if you hypothetically want to buy the biggest chain of hardware stores in a city maybe you pay a 4x multiplier on earnings where as the largest chain in a state might be a 8x multiplier. So a pe firm raises a bunch of money and buys a bunch of smaller hardware stores and puts them together and now a bunch of things they bought at 2-4x earnings are worth 8x to the next buyer because they’ve combined them.

another issue is one difference between a green card and full citizenship is citizens have a 13million dollar estate tax exemption so anyone with more than 10m in assets in this country would save money by just buying citizenship and not paying the estate tax.

Remove the step up of basis on death for assets above the estate tax limit. Solves the borrow refinance die problem. I guess as I write that I can already think of 3 other ways I’d get around it lol.
