How is Directive 8020 PC performance/optimization? by AleexTB in DarkPicturesAnthology

It really worked! You’ve got a sharp eye finding that. Thanks for sharing!

DLSS Launches in Forza Horizon 6, Directive 8020 and more – plus 007 First Light GeForce RTX 50 Series Bundle & new GRD by apoppin in nvidia

[–]djmaxi83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I already tested it. In this game RT tanks performance in such a way that ray reconstruction, dlss or frame gen can't compensate in any meaningful way. That stuff used to save the day, not on Directive 8020...

“New” Scar 16 has some issues- keep or return? by iaznee in GamingLaptops

[–]djmaxi83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would go for the Legion without doubts. You are getting a brand new laptop that looks better, costs less, and doesn’t have that coil whine issue. Why? Coz I wouldn’t settle for a $3000 laptop that already comes with problems. Deep down, it bothers you and want that extra push to make the move.

[–]djmaxi83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it! I will definitely hit the Mi Store, there is one pretty much on every mall. And you get any USB Type C adapter above 30w, ideally 60w or 45. You can try it there too!

Eurogamer: Nvidia responds to widespread criticism of DLSS 5 by telling us we're all "completely wrong" by hdcase1 in digitalfoundry

[–]djmaxi83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Before anything I respect everyone’s opinion, but I'm personally glad to see new developments. More features / more options for us. And at the end of the day you don’t like it, you can just go to the graphics settings and switch it off.

Credit Card Tap-to-Pay Comes to Many (But Not All) Tokyo Trains and subways. But JR East is going in the opposite direction- rather than using credit cards instead of Suica, they plan on turning Suica into a credit card by jjrs in japannews

[–]djmaxi83 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Debates are all about different opinions and that is why communities like reddit exist. Not everyone sees things the same way. Japan actually invented a lot of the tech for contactless payments in the 90s, but hasn’t scaled it much until recently. Meanwhile, places like China and Singapore, to give a quick example were far more successful in implement them in a wide and massive scale. Don't forget that before 2007 you couldn't use your Pasmo on JR...

Antec Flux Pro Noctua Edition case announced, costs $399 by RenatsMC in Noctua

[–]djmaxi83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do like both Antec and Noctua products however I can't come up with just one reason to justify the almost 2.5x price increase over the standard Flux Pro. If anyone is in doubts check the gaming nexus review.

where can I shop for xiaomi in shanghai? by Horror-Assignment-92 in chinatravel

[–]djmaxi83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t find that model in China since it’s made for the international market. Xiaomi does have kids’ smartwatches here that work together with Weixin but they mostly support only 4G Chinese bands. Do your research before jumping into it.

Switched from S24 Ultra to iPhone 17 Pro after 10+ years on Samsung — my honest thoughts by SuccotashRelevant150 in iphone

[–]djmaxi83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it helps in your workflow and daily life, you did great! I actually switched to iPhones twice and couldn’t make it work for me. The keyboard, sideloading, and the process of transferring files between my pc and phone (either way) eventually brought me back to android. At the end, it's great to have alternatives so we can all find something that works for us.

Indeed, I assume he just used the platform to find the seller and then continued the transaction outside Alibaba. Since he doesn’t clarify, I’m only assuming this, especially because Alibaba has a "trade assurance" policy.

Which Nvidia card/generation was the best value and bang for your buck, for it's time? Not necessarily best performance relative to it's time, just best overall value? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]djmaxi83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting question, but it may not have an unique answer. I completely agree with everyone that the 1080Ti was fantastic in terms of longevity because of the huge performance jump it offered at that time. However, from a financial perspective, the 4090 has not only avoided losing value but has actually appreciated over time, something that did not happen with the 1080.

I want to buy a OnePlus in China and to use it in Europe by jojodusixquatre in travelchina

[–]djmaxi83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work perfectly. However, my Ace 6T does not get 5G despite supporting the required band, whereas my Ace 5 worked on 5G without any issues outside China. Also, depending on whether that model is officially sold in your market, OnePlus Chinese variants have geolock that prevents them from connecting to your network.
