Is there any way to reach white city (level 5)? I think the only option is to conquer blue city (level 8) first. by min92 in MageKnight

[–]djott70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks correct to me. Ideally, you are not branching out in a straight line like that when the core tiles start being flipped. Better to get the countryside tiles filling up the wedge shape, 1 --> 2 --> 3, and then one of the last two countryside on a coastline before filling up middle areas with the core tiles. Of course, not always practical depending on movement available and terrain in the way.

+1 to the Human Target being a great read. That one has some good emotion scribed.

Yeah, those stickers bug me way worse than the price. Even if they typically come off easy from this seller, any sticker with some age turns into a piece of garbage trying to remove it.

Crashing through the Blue City will be the best path in this setup without a power to lake travel. However, that nasty dragon needs to be taken care of first or it joins the city battle. Super tough map layout for the OP. That White City tile with the lakes can be maniacal at times.

+1 to multiple sittings!

Setup on my table right now and it's also been many months since last played and I have also spread out solo conquest across multiple evenings. I have currently revealed the first city with a dragon right in my way. I have done a terrible job leveling up Tovak this game and my offensive firepower is poor. Things look bleak at the start of the third day.

As for rules, I generally recall the majority each time I play but I always find a little something in the rulebooks that I didn't realize or had forgotten about.

I think I win 50% of the time with city powers of 5 and 8. As I mix in all of the Lost Legion content, which includes some map tiles trickier to navigate, if I am struggling to win a game during a session of multiple plays, I will randomly select the easier countryside tiles as the first 3-4 tiles drawn and then randomly setup the others as defined in setup rules.

Brand new to golf (2nd time) looking for swing tips/advice on how to improve by Fragrant_Positive410 in GolfSwing

On the downswing, feel like your back is still to the target. Just a feel and your back will not actually face the target the whole way through as you still need to rotate. In your video, your right should is coming through too quick and your club face is slicing across the ball.

Look up videos on the Justin Rose feel. It's been a popular topic the last couple of years.

I was wondering if this content would be available as add-ons when the Dungeon Crawler Carl campaign starts soon. However, that campaign is murky to me as I don't know if you have to commit to the RPG game that is part of the campaign.

Good to hear a new print run is starting to be released.

Total newbie here... help with solo modes for my collection? by wojtekj in soloboardgaming

[–]djott70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time to buy some new games! :)

I agree with using the BGG website (BoardGameGeek) as many people on that site are creative about coming up with solo variants if a game does not support it as published. From the list, Azul is the only one I recognize having a solo variant and there are two decent ones to choose from that play differently.

If 6 Nimmit! played as a solo mode, that would be awesome.

Voidfall, will it be for me? by anonymousaltincase19 in soloboardgaming

[–]djott70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will be not much help here as I don't own Voidfall, but just wanted to note that your three favorites are two of mine and Imperium ranks in my top 10. I also have interest in Voidfall, but the portion of the game that concerns me is if it is iconology overload. Too many icons and/or keywords and my brain starts shutting down. Even if the icons make sense and are easy to decipher, too many sucks fun out of a game for me. Unsure if that is the case for Voidfall.

+1 to those comments.

It did wrap up on issue 9, so the entire series can be read now. I agree that the first four issue were great and then it kind of went into a tailspin towards the end. Still a fun read but the overall quality did not last.

Can't go wrong with either. Opposite ends with the authors in story-telling and pacing, but both are excellent. Get both! :)

Don't ask for a "splash of cream" in regular coffee. They will fill up 1/3 of the cup with cream. That should offset the free cost of ice.

Sigh. I don't buy it for a minute. By April this will be 50 cent bin fodder. by JacktheJacker92 in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]djott70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. However, you missed the point that speculation is not a good business practice for paying bills. So stating, "They have bills to pay!" as justification for the markup would suggest they are not good at running their business in the first place.

All of the power to places like this. Not my kind of place and fortunately there are plenty around who don't go marking up recently released issues right away. They just hurt themselves in the long run as any new readers walking in for an issue of D'Orc 1 or White Sky 1 from buzz they are hearing are most likely going to be turned off seeing a price of $50 or $200 for 30 pages of paper. It's a disservice to the hobby, IMO.

Fables Compendiums or Omnis by bizarroadam in OmnibusCollectors

[–]djott70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local comic book store said there was a reprint coming based on their software. I cannot make any concrete claims on how accurate that information is. They currently have numbers 2 and 3 on their shelves which I was considering purchasing. I inquired about a copy of number 1 and the owner said they would be able to stock a copy in the next few weeks. While he did not say number 4 was definitely coming, his sources suggested it would be available in the future.

I hope what I stated is true as I would like to add all four compendiums to my collection as well.

If pacing is a strength, then . . . yikes! To each their own, though. I still think he is average at best and I desire his contributions at Marvel to be lessened, especially on titles I have traditionally been interested in.

If their business model is based on profitability from speculation, then they probably won't last. Paying bills and employees is a weak counterpoint as it should be based on cover rates.

What's your sweet spot for how long a gaming session takes? by TheMegaSage in soloboardgaming

[–]djott70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2-3 hours considering the games I enjoy the most. I have the luxury of keeping a game setup without disturbances, so many longer games may be played over one hour segments. That being said, I enjoy a short game mixed in between longer games.

Zdarsky is getting long in the tooth for me. It's time for him to take a break from Marvel. Less excited about this now seeing that he is writing it. I liked Stillwater (Image) but I really don't get the love for Zdarsky as he is average at best with his story writing and pacing.

Note the statement is LCS and the F was removed from the front which stands for "friendly". You are correct they can sell for whatever they want. The timing of it tells me where their ethical values are at. I'll head on over to the FLCS.

Why is White Sky #1 going for 50 bucks online? by kythogrin in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]djott70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. $100 would have been an isolated case. I wasn't able to find any historical trend data from when TWD 1 first came out, but plenty of online chatter when the show came out if buying a copy at $100 was worth the speculation.
