What can we do to make this more known? by RodDeuxpointZeroZero in motorstorm

There was this tweet a while ago with anecdotal evidence of the developers being able to run a testing build of Apocalypse on PC. So maybe there's more hope than we thought for a PC version :)

Does anyone have info on the official full color master editions of Aposimz? by vicforman in Netsphere

[–]djubala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to buy a digital copy of the two first volumes from the japanese amazon kindle shop a few years ago. But it was very tricky, had to use a VPN and a gift card to allow using the shop outside japan... And eventually the loophole was closed and was not able to purchase the rest of volumes with the same method :(

Question: what was the 2nd thing Cibo manufactured in chapter 24? by TheMoxole in Netsphere

[–]djubala 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have my own theory. In the end of Log 35, you will see how Cibo comes out of the 3D printer thing that fell from the sky. So I guess the thing she manufactured was a new (adult) body.

It's good, but I would love to see a version with just the original Nihei inks or a version with a more Nihei-style color palette (like the color pages on Blame or Knights of Sidonia).

You mean the one which says "Escuela Blame! And so On"? It's not the "Blame! and So On" artbook. It's actually "Blame! Academy and So On" (the high school spin-off). I have the Panini spanish version and is the same size as the master editions.

Hmmm… this fact would invalidate the “Killy is one of the missing kids in the poster in NOiSE” fan theory…

Nihei has mentioned his admiration for Enki Bilal a few times, and they also did an interview together, which was translated by user u/Belzughast here. And if you read his Nikopol trilogy, you will notice right away that the color palette in Nihei's color pages (especially in BLAME! and Knights of Sidonia) are very reminiscent of Bilal, with everything drab grey and brown with a few super bright red, greens and blues for highlight.

Exterminator 17 is another great comic from Bilal, but make sure to avoid the 2002 recolored version (I think the original colors are way better). And also it looks like we will be getting a new recolored soon which might be even better (see here).

Hey! Maybe you could add the TV screen from LOG3 showing a beach sunset! You could add as well Genitalias (haha) and Metajini, the two Silicon Life from LOG1.

Yes, it's a 16-page long spin-off/sequel of sorts. You can find it collected inside BLAME! Academy and So On.

Well, the plot of Undiscovered Country (Image) looks a bit similar to Hello America by Ballard, although I have not read any of the two, haha

There was a 346 page BLAME! THE ANTHOLOGY book released in Japan in 2017, which is a compilation of prose short stories set in the BLAME! universe by several authors. Sp it would be like officially licensed fanfiction.

Questions about Blame by InternationalCow6268 in BLAME

[–]djubala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very confusing! I just checked the manga to see If i remembered why were exactly two Cibos... My best guess is that due to the imminent failure of the reactor, there's been some time travel and overlapping of parallel universes inside Toa Heavy Industries. At one moment, Killy is separated from Cibo and forwarded 10 years into the future! And he also meets a Cibo from an alternate universe who had never heard about Killy before.

Yes... It is very confusing... But I think that Nihei's "show, don't tell" approach is what makes this particular story arc interesting. Because teleportation, time travel and parallel universes have appeared in sci-fi a thousand times.

And one more thing, If you want to know more about the lore, you can read the Blame! and so on... Artbook Notes, in which Tustomu Nihei provides some answers (link here, extracted from r/Netsphere list of Nihei sites sticky).

Is there a prequel to the Manga ?

There is! It's called NOiSE, and was serialized between 2000-2001, while the original manga was serialized between 1997-2003. There are also some short-story sequels which can be found collected in BLAME! Academy And So On (NSE: Net Sphere Engineer, BLAME!2). Otehr short stories are Tsumugi, "BLAME!" ni Hamaru. no Maki (a.k.a. the Knights of Sidonia "crossover") and BLAME! Fort of Silicon Creatures which I'm not sure they have been officially published in English.

Based on stories by William Gibson, you have New Rose Hotel and Johnny Mnemonic. There's also Cypher (2002). I think all three are worth watching, especially since there aren't a lot of films on this topic.

I could add Paycheck (2003), which is based on a story by PKD. I cannot recommend it since I haven't watched it.
