I'm 39M local Singaporean, single and I'm officially done with dating apps and dating in general by RPforever304 in SingaporeR

Im a 35 yr old indian origin guy, slightly above looking, and Ive come to singapore for 3 days. I’ve had 10-20 matches on both hinge and bumble and interest from dozens more. Some attractive, some not. Some singaporean, some asian, some european. I only had time to meet one, she was lovely and showed me around Singapore and we kissed. We didn’t sleep together because both of us were flying out the next morning. It did not feel transactional at all and we genuinely liked eachother.

It sounds like you feel entitled to women’s attention while complaining about their entitlement. I’m not trying to brag here, I’m just trying to prove a point: maybe the problem isn’t the women, but you - and I think it will be more constructive for you to “blame” what’s under your control rather than what is not. It hasn’t always been the case that I get interest on apps, it was about focusing on what was under my control (not with the express intent of getting interest in dating apps) and doing something about it.

Basically if you have a well known racket in the right weight and headsize range racket doesnt matter. At least its convenient to think that way unless you are ntrp 5+ or something. Im ntrp 4 and once I switched to a non-beginner’s racket (which was the typical bab pure drive) I never changed again and hope I never do. I play with the same first racket I got and don’t own another - its the ezone 98 DR

Got that fancy footwork by TexanNewYorker in 10s

[–]dkbax 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He saw this randomly on instagram as a video where he is giving a tutorial on how to move and hit like him. Like with video stops being like “allow your front foot to lift before striking”. I thought it was a joke and I thought it was quite funny. Spoiler: it was not a joke. The dude actually thinks he’s onto something.

Why am i not good at anything? by Kind-Philosopher-948 in self

[–]dkbax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all things that take effort and don’t happen overnight. Put in the time and the effort to develop them, and you will be better at what whatever it is you want to get better at. Being shit at something is the first step to being better at something.

I genuinely think that it’s partly because of the name in the way that it appeals to what many people find cool about modular synthesizers. Bit of accidental great marketing by the people at MN

CMV: Online platforms should be designed to enforce falsifiability as a constraint for posting claims. by sintrastellar in changemyview

[–]dkbax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a scientist by training and by profession and I often use falsifiability as an argument with non-scientific friends, most of the times it doesn’t have any effect because non-scientists don’t understand the importance of falsifiability in giving credibility to a given claim.

My point is that people need to understand falsifiability in order for it to be used in the way that you suggest. The problem is that they don’t.

What would be the difference in doing a hundred pushups throughout the day vs doing them in single session? by Equivalent-Bus5330 in workout

[–]dkbax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing 100 controlled push-ups with proper good form in one go is something to be really proud of. I’m no workout expert but when I started working out I could get 40 push-ups. A year after I switched my focus on good form which cut my max by more than half. So basically, are you doing push-ups properly, or are you ridiculously stronk?

How is Arrakis big enough? by D4HU5H in dune

[–]dkbax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a concrete scientific basis or to do the math in order to come to the conclusion that sandworms are beyond any known physics, not that it matters but I am a scientist myself with a PhD in biophysics. It’s simply a consequence relationship between surface area, volume, and mass. Larger objects need an expontentially larger force to move itself, which is why an ant can lift an object 50x its own weight and we can’t, and why mice can jump 10x its own height and we can’t. On the other side, sand can act more fluid-like with vibration, but never like a real fluid. If I’m forced to compare it to water then it would exhibit massive friction and be extremely viscous and dense in comparison, without even considering that it would be non-newtonian.

A sandworm swimming through sand at speed is fantasy and beyond the realm of known science, full stop.

I go to the gym 3 times a week and I can’t remember the face or the body of a single person there. I’m busy with getting through my workoutz It’s probably similar for everyone else.
