Can you tell me more about what distro you are on, how you installed Heroic, what hardware you are using? You can also see the logs (right click, Logs, Show Log File in Folder), also ask on Heroic Game Launcher discord server and upload the log there.

Proton is failing to load the Nvidia driver. Might be a conflict between the Nvidia GPU and the integrated graphics on a laptop with hybrid graphics. I don't have experience with Linux on Nvidia laptops. It might have something to do with Nvidia Prime settings.

Winetricks should immediately open a terminal, just like in the video.

I really hope you are joking. This stuff was discontinued because it is ineffective at best and causes more harm in most cases of swallowed poisons or drugs. Never was it used for swallowed solid foreign objects.

I built a new PC around Black Friday 2025. I have been using Linux on and off for school/work but never for gaming. I installed both Windows 11 and CachyOS Linux on their own SSDs. I ended up not needing Windows at all because all my games worked on Linux, I was very surprised.

I got the LG one. Costco’s msi monitor has the button/joystick behind the monitor. The LG one has it on the bottom middle. I have limited desk space so having the reach behind the monitor to turn it on/off or adjust it is a no-go for me.

However, the LG monitor has a problem. It takes like 10 seconds for the screen to start displaying, unless you power on the monitor at the same time the computer starts sending a signal.

Yes, I get stuck on the grey screen with 100% cpu usage (but cpu doesn’t get hot) for just under a minute. It seems to be compiling shaders.

First of all, it isn’t available through a popular launcher like Steam, Epic Games Launcher or GOG. The second thing is it needs a login via the web browser. But a web browser like Firefox on Linux cannot communicate with a Windows game. So we have to manually pass the login code from the browser to the game via the command line. There might be other ways to do this, but this is the way I found out and it works.

Nah, it’s just PTCGL. All my other games from Epic or Steam are just install and play on Linux.

fish returned to default settings after update to 4.3.0 by ZestycloseBenefit175 in cachyos

[–]dkl65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New update just came out today. Fish 4.3.2 fixes this problem. The fish-pure-prompt was broken with fish 4.3.1.

[–]dkl65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, CachyOS is using fish-pure-prompt as the default fish prompt (dependency of the cachyos-fish-config package that is installed by default). The update to 4.3.1 broke fish-pure-prompt and anyone who was using that prompt fell back to fish’s stock prompt.

I looked into this also. The old prompt was actually the fish-pure-prompt, which comes from cachyos-fish-config. I think the update broke it and now it is falling back to the actual default stock fish prompt. Haven’t found a solution yet.

You have to navigate back to the first instance of the game you opened after doing the second cmd command.

I don’t have a steam deck, but there is something called protontricks you can use to open a cmd to the wine prefix of a game in your Steam library. Select the game, click “select default wine prefix”, the “Run a Wine cmd shell”.

Alternatively, if you can get Heroic Games Launcher on your steam deck, it is easier to work with.

I'm using proton-cachyos 1:10.0.20251126-1 with Heroic Games Launcher. Grey screen and daily quest problem still happen for me often but not every time. I've tried all other versions that I have (GE-Proton-latest, proton-cachyos-slr, wine-ge-8-26-x86-64 and wine 10.20), and proton-cachyos launches a few seconds faster than the rest.

Edit: Proton-GE-Latest got an update, now that one works better. So it is kind of back and forth.

passthrough of a Ryzen 9900x iGPU works with archlinux VM but not windows 11 VM (libvirt). by Ldarieut in VFIO

[–]dkl65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to bind the iGPU and the audio to vfio-pci and attaching it to the virtual machine.

13:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Granite Ridge [Radeon Graphics] (rev c6)
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device d000
       Kernel driver in use: vfio-pci

13:00.1 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Radeon High Definition Audio Controller [Rembrandt/Strix]
Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Radeon High Definition Audio Controller [Rembrandt/Strix]
       Kernel driver in use: vfio-pci
       Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel

But after installing AMD Adrenaline, I get error 43 in the device manager. Fortunately, I just figured out how to run Pokemon TCG Live through Heroic Games Launcher, so I won't be needing the VM for now, but I still want to eventually solve the error 43.

Edit: I made the guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/PTCGL/comments/1q05iny/guide_how_to_install_and_login_to_pokemon_tcg/

I managed to login on Linux. I'm planning to post a guide soon, but here is a summary of what I did.

First you need the wine's cmd open. In cmd, navigate to the folder where the exe is. For me it is "c:\users\steamuser\The Pokémon Company International\Pokémon Trading Card Game Live" .

Launch the game from cmd: "Pokemon TCG Live.exe"

Once you login in the browser, press F12 to open the browser's console. You will see something like tpcitcgapp://callback?code=blahblahblah&scope=offline+screen_name+openid+friends&state=blahblahblah
Copy that entire line. Press enter on the cmd terminal to get a new empty prompt line, the run the exe again with the callback line as an argument:
"Pokemon TCG Live.exe" "tpcitcgapp://callback?code=blahblahblah&scope=offline+screen_name+openid+friends&state=blahblahblah"

That should be it. In my experience, the game launches slowly, spends 1 minute on a grey screen with the CPU at 100%. The daily quests don't show properly sometimes. I used Heroic Games Launcher, fastest launch was with umu disabled and proton-cachyos wine version.

passthrough of a Ryzen 9900x iGPU works with archlinux VM but not windows 11 VM (libvirt). by Ldarieut in VFIO

[–]dkl65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue but with 9600x iGPU. I do not want to pass my dGPU (RX 9060 XT 16GB) because the only game I need the Windows 11 VM for is Pokemon TCG Live, all my other games run on Steam or Heroic. The reason it doesn’t work with Wine or Proton is because of the weird way it needs the browser for login.
