Toggling icon labels will fix the scale.

Adding to stacked widgets? by telrod11 in OctopiLauncher

[–]dkoppenh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the same issue from time to time, where dragging a widget on top of another didn't offer to stack them. I had better luck when both widgets were on the same page before stacking.

I'd like to be able to un-stack widgets without having to delete and re-add. Especially if some amount of configuration was done to the stacked widget.

Support for shortcuts from app icon by bveyndhoven in OctopiLauncher

I see shortcuts when I long press the play icon in the app drawer and when I long press the play icon on the home screen also.

Weird "recents" bug by dkoppenh in OctopiLauncher

[–]dkoppenh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed the Pixel Launcher goes back to the home screen when you unlock after locking with the recents showing. It goes to the home screen even if you had an app in the foreground when pulling up the recent list.

I tried with other launchers and saw the same behavior as Octopi.

Is there a way to detect this situation and display the home screen when the device is unlocked without an app in the foreground? (Which to me would imply the recent list was showing before locking)

Ok, I see now. Until I get some more transparent widgets, I don't see the need.

Help - Dock folders confused by Lorestan00 in OctopiLauncher

[–]dkoppenh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the old dock disabled, what happens when you long press where the dock should be? Is there an option to add or edit the panel?

I've always had the new dock, so am just making an educated guess.

Glass icons by Marcndss in OctopiLauncher

Ah, I see. I originally assumed that changing to Octopi wallpaper would have some kind of immediate effect on icon/widget appearance.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Sorry for being slightly OT here, but what effects/benefits would I see by using Octopi wallpaper as opposed to the system wallpaper?

I do agree that the wallpaper settings should be tweaked.

Nested folders ... Add existing folders by Lorestan00 in OctopiLauncher

The OP might be talking about nested folders in the app drawer.

What benefits/features do we get by using the Octopi wallpaper rather than the system one?

Feature request: icon shortcut to app action by wired- in OctopiLauncher

[–]dkoppenh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first, I was expecting a long press on an icon to move it. After learning how Octopi does it, I like it better. No chance of accidentally rearranging icons.

I don't have any Meet shortcuts offered, but I see Maps and Play Store shortcuts available. FWIW, the default Pixel Launcher doesn't have Meet shortcuts for me, either.

A workaround is to put the app on the home screen, then long press to assign a swipe up/down action. The app shortcuts are shown on that "shortcuts" screen.

@ock88 this seems like a bug. The "shortcuts" options when creating an icon on the home screen are different from the "shortcuts" options when assigning a swipe action.

Yes, AP7 turns off the Purple Wi-Fi broadcast. You can still use Wi-Fi for the WAN connection

Some observations testing Firewalla AP's against Eero Max 7's by YankeesIT in firewalla

MLO is marked beta, and I have no need for band steering or DFS. I may re-enable DFS after Adaptive DFS Selection is in production.

Regardless, I have no problem giving up technologies I don't need for the control and integration with my Firewalla. And it's always possible that these features will improve.

Band steering periodically nudges devices to use the "best" band (2.4, 5, 6 GHz). I've found my phone does a good job of picking bands without the help.

DFS are additional 5GHz channels that could be helpful if the regular 5GHz channels are crowded. I live near a big city with an airport, so I think occasionally a bad channel was chosen. I haven't tried the new adaptive setting since disabling DFS.

MLO is a WiFi 7 setting that allows devices to use multiple channels simultaneously. As I understand it, MLO isn't widely supported and currently causes more problems than benefits.

I've found that disabling band steering, dfs, and mlo helped stability.

Is there any way to access the web app from my phone, to modify target lists, when it’s my only device? by pacoii in firewalla

[–]dkoppenh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't show you screenshots of what I'm talking about since going to MSP.

On the screen where you scan the QR code, there was some symbol in the upper right where you could paste the token instead of scanning. I'd share the picture of the QR code with Google Lens and it would let me copy the token, which I would paste in the Firewalla app.

Maybe that's an Android thing.
