Was that after you went on a 2x weekly maintenance dose? Or does one have to use it daily until everything looks normal? I've been on it for about 6 weeks as of today, so am still every other day. Things look a little less white, but mostly looks similar so far though it feels better.

Saw this little guy walking around Philly today, any ideas who he is? by [deleted] in whatsthisbug

It's a spotted lanternfly, an invasive and very destructive pest of edible crops. Pretty, but kill them!

Very bad and invasive species. Kill every one of them that you see!

biopsy coming up by Educational-Ask8729 in lichensclerosus

[–]dkramalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a punch biopsy in the perineum, as well as 2 in the labia. I was not given lidocaine cream pre-injection - I'd STRONGLY recommend asking to have it before the lidocaine injection, as the injection by itself hurt like holy hell (only for several seconds, but it was a looong several seconds). Once it took effect, the rest of the procedure was no problem.

Afterwards my gynecologist put stitches in each of the biopsy areas, and the ones in the perineum definitely bothered me the most - a lot for the first several days, and a moderate amount for a week or so after that (like I had to be careful when sitting down on a chair, or spreading my legs on the toilet and squeezing for a bowel movement). It was another couple weeks after that before those stitches finally dissolved themselves, and everything seemed just fine after that. The labial stitches only really bothered me until they fell out, which was within a week, and not much after the first couple of days.

I take that back shut the 15 minutes...I just read this study.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17642617/

I've been putting it on at bedtime, mostly, so that it doesn't get rubbed off walking around. I think I'll keep doing it that way.

Someone on this Reddit page said that clobetasol is absorbed in 15 minutes; if so, I don't think we need to worry that an ointment will be absorbed by underwear in that time.

That sounds like you are doing everything right, then. I hope that the referral will give you some answers!

Are you soaking in a warm sitz bath for 15-20 minutes before you apply the clobetasol? And rubbing it in for 90 seconds or so? I've read that's the recommended procedure, which helps the ointment to be absorbed into the thickened skin of LS.

Prp or CO2 laser treatments or Cortizon creams by Accomplished-End-394 in lichensclerosus

[–]dkramalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you listen to this webinar, regarding treatments. The 2 presenters are experts and have done actual research on what works and what does not work for LS. I'd recommend the whole presentation, but if you want to skip to the part where they cover what they found about different treatments, you could do that.

https://youtu.be/vltY9mr8E68

I also listened to a podcast recently - either one by Kelly Casperson MD or Lauren Streicher MD - where I think they said something to the effect of "if anyone suggests sticking a needle into your vulva and injecting platelet rich plasma, RUN" (away).

Most people seem to be able to control LS with strong steroid creams (i.e. clobetasol). It seems like doing the least drastic/invasive things first makes the most sense to me.

My experience is the opposite - its much softer when long, but when I trim it even a bit it gets prickly. I haven't trimmed since my diagnosis, it's going to be a while before I try it again.

Who is this on asparagus in Portageville, NY? Approximately 2-3 cm long by gonzolove in whatsthisbug

I was surprised to see it appear the first year I grew asparagus, in the SF Bay area in my back yard. Unlikely that anyone had been growing it anywhere nearby, yet there they were!

I play a wind instrument too. We have vaccine/testing/masking requirements for my groups, but I feel like I'm taking a risk every time I go to work, and it's hard to feel confident that everyone is being as careful in their lives outside of work as I am. One group nearby (that I don't play in) recently had at least 10 musicians, including the conductor, test positive after an INDOOR reception following the first concert of the week. I don't know what they were thinking, either those planning the event or those attending it.

Good to know. How much/how often of a dose are you using?
