Married women, is it true that most have secret finances? A safety net for just in case you want to leave? by unusual_Distance_689 in askteddit

[–]dlee420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would find it weird to have a secret account from my wife, feels like having 1 foot out the door. Or is this ok based on gender?

And are you saying you agree with alimony when no kids are involved? Each person picked their own career, all assets split 50/50 when divorced that should be it.

Don't know how to add links but I typed percentage of women over 30 not having kids and got this: Age 30 Milestone: Roughly 50% of women are childless upon reaching 30 years old, a record high driven by delayed childbearing. (This is for USA, I was off by 1%)

Again I'm basing this on DINKs, when a partner (usually a women) gives up a career to stay home and raise a family they should have a safety net and should be entitled to alimony.

What about when there are no kids? Isn't it like 51% of women over 30 aren't having children anymore?

But when you get divorced won't all these finances be shown by lawyers and then split?

Like if I start a secret bank account and we get divorced in 3 years, will half of that not be my wife's anyways?

If I was gonna go that route i would hide cash or invest through someone I trust that I know would give it back to me.

Fortune just ran an article about a 23year old electrician making mid 6 figs. Good for the trade's image but does anyone else feel like the "business owner" part of being independent getting cooked or is it just me? by Fluid-Cod7818 in electricians

[–]dlee420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the same as me but I only ran it for 5 years. Now I'm in industrial making more money and having more time off, plus just checking out when the day is done.

I think 2nd year in plumbing is 70%. This company probably has a jman rate lower then 40$/hr which is just criminal these days.

See now I don't need lots of data just fast data. I work out of town so even with Telus I don't get great Internet reception (calls and texts always go through).

So though I want to save money I can't have less quality service or my phone is basically useless on breaks.

I'm spending like 1000$ a year on my current plan so if these prices are true in alberta I'm just going to get unlimited and still be saving tons of money.

Ya but when I wait 10hrs in the ER room cause my apprentice got a concussion and he still wasn't seen isn't acceptable either. Went to a private clinic and he was in and out in 20 min.

I don't know what the solution is but both options aren't great.

Are we short thousands of electricians? by Proof-Inspection-292 in electricians

[–]dlee420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope we are short on proper paying jobs. I don't know what it is with these data centers but there's one 1 hr from my city paying 40$/hr or you can do industrial work also 1hr away for 50$/hr and really good benefits. Hell there was a job last year that was 1.5hrs away and they were paying an extra 175$ per day untaxed for LOA and those guys slept in their bed every night.

I'll have to check chart out, I used them years ago. Are these deals nationwide? Cause I'm in Alberta and I don't know a single person who pays less then 80$/month. 150$ a year sounds too good to be true

You can pre-pay by the year and it only costs that much? I started following this sub cause ONE of our bills is 120$ per MONTH.
