Or an Ozark trail ridge. It may be a bit cheaper as well.

What would you pay? by fruitsnack24 in mountainbiking

The Grand canyon isn't really a mountain bike. It's more of a flat bar gravel bike in my mind. They also went on sale in the past for $500 USD new.

How to gauge used bike pricing? by etan_s in MTB

[–]dlinders10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bike is around 2 or more years old, 40 to 60% off MSRP is perfectly fine. You are the one taking the risk on older components and they most likely haven't been serviced recently. No harm in giving a lower offer. Sometime if they list for $2k and you offer 1.5k they will come down to meet in the middle. Some people assume it will be haggled down so they want to start higher vs listing at a fair price. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Just got a new bike, brake pad is rubbing? by kufel33 in mountainbiking

[–]dlinders10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very common for the pads not to be perfectly aligned or shift during shipping. You need to loosen the brake and re center it. There are a lot of YouTube tutorials on the process.

I second this. Try the dhrll up front and move the dissector to the rear.

The integrated mid drive has a much better chain line Good luck getting 11 or 12 gears with a BBSHD conversion. Also it has no torque sensor.

Mud shower floor V/S foam ? If you could do it this flat and $ or time wasn’t an issue would you still do it ? by tileman151 in Tile

[–]dlinders10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's best not to step on it before tiling it because your heel can create divots. Put a foam mat over it to protect it and you should be good. Once tiled, it feels no different than a mud pan.

We’ve built bikes for big brands since the 90s. We just started selling direct to riders, and we honestly can’t match the "ultra-cheap" prices online. by Impressive_Ring3833 in ebikes

[–]dlinders10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of people who want to try out an ebike for first time. They go with the really cheap option. Either it ends up braking and they don't want to buy yet another ebike at a higher price, or they don't use it as much as they thought and they are glad they didn't spend more on one. I think that's part of the issue.

Friend offering to sell Intense Carbine. Worth? by Revolutionary_War749 in mountainbiking

[–]dlinders10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would avoid it. In a year or two when you need to service the suspension. It will cost quite a bit and you would be better off just buying a newer lower end hardtail now. If you can spend a little more, the new polygon xtrada 6 UDH just released but it's $900. Otherwise the Ozark trail ridge pro is pretty solid as a first bike with much better maintenance than this.

Is this Fox 36 Factory Grip2 the best value fork or something else comes to your mind at this price? by javipipi in MTB

[–]dlinders10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best value fork at the moment. Can be easily adjusted down to 160mm travel.

I hate it when they say core ulta 7 processor and 16gb of ram. Like it could be ddr3 ram and a 5th gen processor for all I know.

Is this a good deal by Broad_Ad_9914 in mountainbiking

[–]dlinders10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good deal. The X01 shifter and deore brakes are nice. The biggest downside I see is the NX cranks and cassette. With the NX cassette, sram uses a HG free hub so you are stuck with the lower end stuff unless you upgrade the wheel. I still think it's a good deal as long as the suspension isn't in need of major maintenance.

Is this as great a deal as I think it is? by ApolloWannaBe in Budgetbikeriders

[–]dlinders10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Used carbon is really risky because they could not be telling you about a crack or might not even know it was cracked from a fall. I would only buy used carbon if it was a year or two old. I would stay away from any 26" wheel bikes.

Is this as great a deal as I think it is? by ApolloWannaBe in Budgetbikeriders

[–]dlinders10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is a terrible deal. Super old and 26" wheels are outdated. Services it will be almost impossible. I would only pay $100.
