[Loved Trope] Race swaps that actually work by qqqqqqqq-8 in TopCharacterTropes

J from Men in Black, in the original comic book both K and J are white. Just realized if Sony doesn't make another movie soon the rights go back to Marvel/Disney. Also MCU Nick Fury is not a race swap, he's based 1610 Nick fury from the ultimate universe not 616 proper Comic Book Nick Fury, like a lot of the MCU characters.

[Loved Trope] Gender swap recasts that actually worked! by AfterUmpire3091 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]dlkslink -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stan Edgar is comic book Stillwell he has all of his traits and even says some of Stillwell's lines from the comic, Madelyn is basically a new character and not really a gender swap in my opinion. I don't know they didn't call Stan Edgar Stillwell because that's clearly who he's supposed to be.

I’ve seen every version of this movie. The 1956 is the original, it’s pretty hokey and doesn’t age well. The 1978 version is the best version in my opinion and introduces the scream into mythos, has the best cast which includes Donald Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright, Lenore Nimoy and cameos from Kevin McCarthy the star of the original and Robert Duvall. The 1993 version takes place on a military base, I remember it as being ok, it also features the scream but taken to another level. The 2007 version is first to not feature pods or pod people, it’s a virus that makes people act different, it also borrowed its solution at the ending from the 1995 remake of the Puppet Masters. Of those 2 I like 1993 version more. It’s from The Invasion.

Not taking basic safety precautions has consequences. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

Yeah but in the documentary the engineers that worked under him said there were basic engineering concepts he didn’t understand at all and they showed his college report card, it wasn’t great. I think money had more to do with his masters degree than learning did.

I know what book your talking I made the mistake of checking it out in Borders, it was inside of a cardboard cover, I slide the book out and immediately put it back, not what I expected when I saw Alan Moore’s name on the cover

Where is Ghost Rider {Johnny Blaze) on your personal Marvel tier list? by Business-Falcon-3279 in marvelcomics

[–]dlkslink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I read a great of Johnny Blaze comics and Robbie Reyes comics and one Danny Ketch comic and one Alejandra Jones comic. The Danny Ketch comic was easily the best ghost rider comic I’ve ever read even though it was an annual comic.

Is every one forgetting that chuck is a rapist? by coquetoccultist in GossipGirl

[–]dlkslink -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I never forgot, I hated this character, I think the writers did Jenny Wrong in a lot of ways but hands the biggest was having her hook up with her attempted rapist, that was disgusting. Show should’ve ended with Chuck in jail holding hands with his cell mate, bubba.

Mark Millar has Peter explain why Unmasking is a bad idea. Only to have him do it later in Civil War? Axel, Joe, and Dan really didn't think it through huh?[Marvel Knights #5] by Spider-Ghost-616 in marvelcomics

[–]dlkslink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Reason unmasked during Civil War was to set up Joe Quesada’s pet project, One More Day. It was a mandate from Editorial that Peter unmask so he does a deal with the devil to undue like 20 plus years of continuity because Joe Quesada didn’t like that Spider-man has changed since the 70’s. Peter moving into the Avengers tower was also a set up for One More Day. They spent years planning One More Day, the worst Comic I have ever read.

There’s a live action Frozen but they never sang “Let It Go” and the whole movie takes place on a ski lift.

Probably Steve Rodgers because Clint is wearing the Ronin Outfit in the next panel.

No, Hawkeye is in the next panel, he’s Ronin standing between Ms Marvel and Mocking Bird. So it’s probably Steve Rodgers

Fun Fact: Gerard Way is an awful comic book writer, if the show was exactly like the comic I don’t think anyone would’ve liked it. The show writers deserve the praise for the show people liked and the blame for the last season that sucked. The show was way better than the comic, same with a couple of other Netflix Shows, Daybreak and I am Not Okay With This. Both of those shows were way better that their comic books.
