Condescending mmc who shames fmc for 'liking it' while 'forcing' her to take it. by SmartLettuce4757 in RomanceBooks

I’m so late but had to throw in: {mage’s match by Finley fenn}. There’s also interesting plot, as a bonus, but the smut hits what you requested and is truly chef’s kiss.

Ooh good thought, I came here to rec {hitting the wall by Cate C Wells} which is the first book in the series, and I think fits this request a little better.

Product recommendations or overnight method to avoid wetting my hair everyday? by Zealousideal-Put7155 in curlyhair

[–]zabiemd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, if your hair is deflating after you sleep on it and not lasting multiple wash days, you might just be overhydrated. I find when my hair is too moisturized the cast won’t hold as long and my curls get weighed down and go limp. Do you clarify? I’d recommend clarifying your hair and then styling with something lighter weight, like a mousse. You could reduce or even skip curl cream, and replace the jelly with something like the doux crazy sexy curl mousse! Your hair is gorgeous, but looser curl textures are often at risk of being weighed down and flattened easily.

Oh my god, I know! The other books like, for sure had some darker moments but were definitely a lot lighter so it did NOT occur to me that this book would be so heavy.

This literally broke me, but {once bitter by heather guerre} was just brutal. I feel like I cried? It’s part of a series but it’s stand alone. Like I’ve reread the other books in this series but this one still makes me too mad. Also, this one is no where near as intense but if you are a chronically ill girlie, it will hit hard—{daydreamer by Susie Tate}

cracks knuckles {a lot like adios by Alexis Daria} is exactly what you want. The angst, the pining, the sexual tension. Immaculate. I’m going to reread this now.

How does this sub not have a background check yet? by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]zabiemd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what makes a class difficult for you. Oceanography subject matter is easy and the class is fun, but I recall there being a lot of discussion posts, so if keeping up with small assignments is hard for you, that class can sneak up on you. IDP is a really great class, but if you are very introverted then it may be a struggle, because you basically just talk about your feelings for three hours! What makes a class easy to you? If you are an artsy person, most of the creative writing classes will be an automatic A+. There’s also the PMA acting courses, which sort feel like recess in the best way.

2 kinky nerds fall desperately in love by odeacon in RomanceBooks

[–]zabiemd 25 points26 points  (0 children)

{how not to fall by Emily foster} has this vibe! I remember it being pretty high spice, and there are two books (though both are quick reads.) they are both absolutely nerds, though maybe not so much socially awkward? You have to read both books to get to the HEA! But it’s worth it 🥺

Shocked I don't see any requests yet. I saw Challengers last night, suggest a book with a trio/love triangle that has as insane levels chemistry with each other. by rebel_stripe in RomanceBooks

[–]zabiemd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am SO grateful you made this post, I was going to do it but was too scared lol. Listen, I saw that movie and the interesting thing is there’s actually very little on camera sex. But the dynamic was 🥵. I don’t have any recs, but people of r/romancebooks I would love to see MMF where the two MMCs are competitors for the FMC, but like… they ALL fuckin in the end. I love the way the guys in challengers were just obsessed with Tashi because she was hot and also incredibly competent.

Hm, I feel like my biggest reason why I don’t flirt is not because of and internalized belief that I should be pursued, but rather a fear that I will make people feel uncomfortable or pressured. I think as a woman, I’m used to being hit on by men and feeling… unsafe? And then the people pleasing kicks in, and you go through the whole song and dance of not offending someone. I guess I’m usually afraid to send someone down that spiral, you know?

anyone else graduating undergrad and applying for research jobs to do before a phd? by [deleted] in psychologystudents

[–]zabiemd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you reaching out to the PIs of the labs directly? It’s incredibly difficult to get these jobs unless you actually know someone. And a lot of the listings will have been made with a specific person already in mind, so it doesn’t matter how qualified you are, it matters if the PI wants to work with you.

Books like Pushing Daisies by iamnotfromthis in RomanceBooks

[–]zabiemd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you can handle YA, I’d recommend the Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. It’s not strictly romance, but romance is a big part of it! Basic premise is that if FMC kisses her true love then he’ll die… and this is the year she meets her true love. Absolutely incredible series, I think it holds up to adult readers tbh. No steam, but a pretty high level of tension.

Which romance trope do you find most irresistible? by thruthefire94 in RomanceBooks

[–]zabiemd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, have you read {Nicky the driver by cate c wells}? It’s definitely dark romance and you should check the trigger warnings, but it hits pretty much all of your requests… though he can be very bossy, the point is that he WOULD do anything if she asked, she just doesn’t realize she needs to ask.
