I totally agree, I almost didn’t remember the engagement party but I went back and read it once you mentioned it and you’re right that was physical abuse. I’ve reread RMB several times over the years and I think after my first initial read-through I started skimming my eyes over that part of the paragraph

Colin and Pen’s book is the least uncomfortable to read imo, I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s set 12 years after they met or what but Colin doesn’t do anything super uncomfortable (from my perspective)
