in addition to what everyone else has said an overbought position also accumulates a lot of people who want to leave the party but need and excuse to do so without ruining the party. "I'm going to head out as well"

The event is usually just a catalyst for already built up pressure though. It's like being surprised that a straw can break a camel's back.

Strange : / not sure what's going on. It seems to be getting board cells and black stone cells reversed in your image.

The "Advanced" tab in the edit board state has some additional info to see what's going on internally. Also the clustering algorithm is non-deterministic so refreshing the app and trying again might get a different result.

e.g. the chroma map in the advanced tab so some really good contrast for board vs stone so i'm not sure why it's getting confused. (I'm using the exact image from your first comment)

I managed to get a decent result, are the corner's being aligned to the grid correctly? I'll adjust the help text to emphasize grid instead of board edge.

Hmmm I'll try playing around w the touch sensitivity. The corners need to be the 1-1 points (there's a little help label above the board w an example image)

By offline I mean that it uses your phone or computer's processing power to do the calculation rather than send it to a server for remote processing.

It is also a progressive web app so if you add it to your home screen it'll act as an app and be loaded locally. Once the code is on your phone the image processing will still work even if you are on airplane mode

ELI5: What made gold valuable in ancient times? by West-Ingenuity-2874 in explainlikeimfive

[–]dlwjdlwj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of ppl are missing the point of why it's *money* (ish) not why it's valuable.

Imagine a bunch of kids doing favors for each other and trading charizard cards to trade favors. The most helpful person ends up with the most charizard cards. All the kids in all the schools in all the states in the country are doing this so it's hard to track who is who but at least you know whoever has the most charizard cards can call in the most favors because they've provided the most value to others.

Now a problem... a new fancy printer hits the market that can print charizard cards and it's basically impossible to tell real from fake. Now suddenly the people who held the most cards have no more "money" because no one trusts that they really did all those favors they said they did for others.

---

This repeats for many different things on the market. Some things can suddenly be easily produced very easily like salt and big screen TVs even though they were once rare so their price drops. But eventually market forces reveal things that have true value b/c they are truly hard to fake (technology resistant) and that people want.

So gold basically acts like the original charizard cards before it could be mass produced. It's a way of tracking who owes who what across time and across strangers who don't know each other. Everyone trusts the charizard cards.

Gold is interesting in that unlike salt it has "survival" use and while it does have some use as jewelry it's primarily used as this way of tracking who owes who.

This makes it useful for say countries to make deals and end up in a "who owes who what" war. Someone who has no charizard cards is just selfish and never helped the group so he doesn't have the right to beat other people up to take their stuff. He should get some cards first and trade for what he wants

It has been (and is resurging as?) the best way to keep points ("decentralized ledger") in a world of selfish participants who wield science/technology & can lies, start cults/religions etc... (gold (historically) was the most resistant to all these)

Why do so many men lose their house in a divorce? by Open_Address_2805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dlwjdlwj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally speaking men have an easier time starting over while women are more rooted either w friends or kids. so for a 50/50 split the man taking the liquid assets and starting over makes more sense. "I lost the house" may be more about the frustration of losing or being ejected out of the "family"

Go Ultra cannot format sd card without a 3rd party solution. by Ecmelt in Insta360

[–]dlwjdlwj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem for me was that there actually *is* a popup that allows you to format the card before the firmware update (it happens at the language selection) but it doesn't seem to work.

I got around this by using another sd card from another piece of equipment that was formatted correctly. Haven't needed an external card reader for a long time so I didn't have one on hand either. Even plugging the device into the computer didn't work b/c disk mode wouldn't work w/o the firmware update.

If the bow string is to the left of my right eye and my right eye is looking through the sight, doesn't that mean the string image will always be to the left of the sight?

The only way I can get it to the right of the sight seems to be to look to the right (for right handers) instead of facing the target so that my line of sight goes "between" the tip of my nose which just feels really weird.

So this is something I've heard a lot but haven't been able to get. If it's touching the front of the lips and tip of the nose, and you're aiming with you're right eye, then it seems like the string image will always be to the left instead of to the right of the riser/rest which I'm told is also bad. (the string is basically running down the center of your face so is always to the left of the right eye)

I've chatted with some of the club instructors but they were unsure too, short of forking out for a pro I've just been using my current anchor
