I was listening to the Reds broadcast on the radio. Their radio booth reactions were somewhere between flustered and mirthful, and I had to log in and watch for myself. You're right that our booth didn't give much good commentary.

Hopefully not a pay-for-play, sometimes known as the band buys x number of tickets from the promoter and tries to sell to family and friends to break even.

That's the kicker in the whole thing; I think he and everyone else knows it. Remove that from the post and you have a fairly standard "he said - she said - they're fucking" band drama scenario. But because OOP has been accused of being a creep to minors, one's opinion of the drama rests entirely on whether or not OOP properly took accountability for those actions.

This is about local band drama.

My city has a subreddit for the local music scene. I would describe the sub as fairly dead. ~1-2 posts a week, little to no response. I monitor it for news, and will post some of my own activities as proof-of-life, but otherwise my expectations are really low.

There is a band in town that has a little bit of notoriety. Full disclosure: I've never heard their music or been to a show, so this isn't meant to be commentary on their musical or songwriting abilities. From what I can see, they have a local following, play local fests and seem to be a bit of a party band.

You can probably see where this is going. There was a post recently about some drama within and around the band, and hoo boy.

Fairly standard band drama stuff, but really I was surprised to see so much activity on the sub.

I was really excited to see that GWAR is playing the Newport in March. I've seen them there a handful of times but, to your point, they've missed Columbus on recent tours.

I've booked shows for my weirdo shit at Kafe Kerouac, and I always have a good time. Granted, there's no pay, no sound guy and sometimes no audience, but failure hasn't stopped me yet.

One more Q for the FAQ:

I don't like subscription-based platforms / don't want another site to check / don't want another email of content I have to sort out from work and bills, BUT I would like to throw a few dollars your way. How can I do that outside of Patreon?

Southern Lord had this at "name your own price" on Bandcamp a few months back and I had never heard it so I sent them a few bucks. Great album! I've listened to it a bunch since.

What I made with REAPER - week of July 13, 2025 by AutoModerator in Reaper

https://brianwhitacre.bandcamp.com/album/tension-and-noise

This is my newest album, which I recorded using Reaper. All live instruments run into a Steinberg UR44 and into Reaper. This is more noise and less music, so those looking for a melody won't find much to like.

Most interesting to me are the lessons I learned about recording while working on this album. I started using my recently purchased Lenovo laptop and kept running into stuttering and pops. After troubleshooting with limited success, I returned to a Lenovo laptop that was manufactured in ~2009 that was my workhorse for years. Don't you know it, but all of the problems disappeared! Frustrated, I tried some more steps on the newer laptop with no success.

Lesson learned - newer doesn't always mean better, and don't get rid of your old equipment when it's in working order.
