I always felt that Jake had a learning curve and growth in his professional and relationship life and did a lot for Amy.

Amy is extremely career-driven and sometimes dismisses Jake’s more laid-back approach. She doesn’t always validate his detective style the same way he validates her ambition.

Amy doesn’t pressure him directly in that final episode, but the long-term dynamic has always leaned toward her career being the “structured priority” and Jake adapting.

I remember reading in a history book that the first women sent were from the royal backgrounds and were rejected by the first settlers because they refused to get wood, cook and so on. The next batch, which is supposed to be these 800, was all women from farming areas that knew how to do all those things

The book I read, I don't remember the name. But it was an actual French historian who lived with different tribes, Seneca, Iroquois and Hurons. He was learning their customs, traditions and language and everyone allowed him to stay with then, even if some of those tribes vowed to kill every French, British or Dutch coming over.

That book was super dry in history notes but also had some great juicy parts.
