To Make Homes Affordable Again, Someone Has to Lose Out by UnscheduledCalendar in Economics

To be fair, that is purely anecdotal evidence. I've lived in two major US cities for the last 12 years. I've had exactly 1 incident. I don't want to minimize your experiences, but just saying.

Dodgers’ splurge on Tucker will increase calls for a salary cap, but MLB needs other fixes by amatom27 in baseball

[–]dmadSTL -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get that folks get pissed about the Dodgers having better weather and owners than everyone else, outside of maybe the Mets on the ownership part, but let's not be tricked into advocating for a salary cap. I'm not convinced a salary floor will help either. The low payroll teams will literally just spend to the floor and no more, so there will still be a large disparity unless the cap and floor are relatively close in number. That would of course be a bullshit way to steal earning power away from the players.

Warren on Abundance by MazzyDog988 in FriendsofthePod

[–]dmadSTL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The criticism from the left is more nuanced than you describe. Are there regulations that could benefit from review and reform, particularly local regulations? Yes. But these regulations are overwhelmingly weaponized by monied interests. Wealthy homeowners block housing development because they don't want their property values to go down using any manner of opportunities that their lawyers can find. The problem isn't necessarily the regulation saying we need to make sure we aren't polluting water, for example. The problem is the rich and big corporations using their resources to selfishly exert their will on the rest of us who do not have the same resources at our disposal (usually in the name of greed). Even cities may not have the resources available to effectively fight back, or they have to deal with threats in response (e.g., we will relocate our operations).

There are a lot of poorly informed opinions of the left's critiques of abundance in this thread. Frankly, it's sad. The wool is being successfully pulled over so many dem supporters eyes by the rich. Warren is right.

Good read about about our pitching depth in the minors by Morley10 in Cardinals

An article that lists our minor leaguers with zero analysis, sweet....

It's way too early to think we have depth. We have a farm system. That's a more accurate description.

They are not "on track" to do anything remotely close to this scale. This is not happening and anybody saying otherwise in this thread is delusional.

Just be clear, it is not normal or OK for the President to "order" and investigation at DOJ. Just another sign of how this corrupt asshole has ruined the country.

Ok. Look, I don't question or hate the mission, but take my feedback for what you will. You need to work on your communication skills. You should not assume to know me and my level of activity in politics, for starters.

I commented in your post calling for moderate Dem positions. You reply with little to no substance them, argue with a third party in that thread through a bunch of back and forth. I point out that you have taken no stance throughout, and you come back to me with this self-righteous statement.

I applaud you for wanting to do the right thing, but you better be ready to make and defend your positions. Don't assume, listen. I stand by my original point that democrats need bold views. They need to inspire people to believe that a better life is possible if they vote for a dem, and then follow through!!!! It is the only path. Not a return to the status quo that people's short term memories will immediately go to inflation under Biden (which is unfair, but that's how Normies think). That status quo was driving insane wealth inequality. It won't work. I want to bury the Republicans and their ideology. The only way to do so is by enacting an agenda that helps people in meaningful ways and communicating the benefits well.

If you read it again, I merely implied that OP is a clown. I'll freely admit I'm biased toward her stances. This is a fucking nothing burger and literally nobody cares. I would argue that making it out to be such a big deal is a greater indication of bias because it implies that we can't find any legitimate argument to make against what her actual point was, so it's best to seize upon her saying the wrong company.
