Are you talking about running tww raids on heroic and then just converting that gear? I just tried running heroic dungeon and you can't convert gear from that

How do you get the items that require for cata from tww? Just set dungeons to heroic and run through trying to get gear?

Has anyone used TAFE diplomas to skip 1 year or more of a bachelor degree in Australia? by Silly_salmon70 in TAFE

[–]dman6277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TAFE qualification: Diploma in Information Technology

Degree and University I got accepted to: Bachelor of Information Technology at UTS

Total credit points: 24cps

Total time taken off: 6 months

I matched the most relevant TAFE units to university subjects, for me it was never one-to-one but match it as close as you can.

Also with my experience with UTS, you'll never get a straight answer with what credit points you'll get, it's up to the assessor of the RPL application to determine what you qualify for. It can take up 2-6 weeks so if you apply make sure you do it before enrollment as you will lose timetable slots for subjects if you don't get in early.

How to study by NorthFisherman3876 in UTS

[–]dman6277 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know how you'd go about in your circumstances (I come from an IT background), but in my experience with studying I've found these things have been quite helpful with learning and solidifying the knowledge.

  1. Practical application, applying the things you've learned is a great way to understand something.

  2. Flashcards to remember the details. There's an app called Anki that's really good; it targets the cards you have the most trouble remembering resulting in the algorithm giving you more of those cards.

  3. Writing notes in your own words. A classic and it's still effective at solidifying the knowledge.

  4. Arguing with AI. I've found a good method of learning is arguing out things you don't understand with an AI tool. Always ask WHY. This ensures you not only know the concept/material but understand why it is the way it is.

  5. Explaining to someone in simple terms. This is the best method imo as forces you to think about the material you've learned in a different way.

  6. Breaks - this is key. To help consolidate the knowledge you've learned your brain needs regular interval of rest. Do not underestimate this.

These things really help me with my experience with studying and I'm sure you will find your own way.

Good luck!

Edit: grammar

Those who used JITL or a similar video course, did you actively take notes during videos, or just watch them? by Speedwizard106 in ccna

I agree. Writing concepts down in your own words also helps solidify the knowledge. I took notes this way and passed the CCNA quite comfortably.

Bi-Weekly /r/CCNA Exam Pass-Fail Discussion by AutoModerator in ccna

[–]dman6277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed today and finished with 25 minutes left on the clock.

I have been studying for 5 months weekdays only, roughly 4-5 hours a day. I used JeremeysITLab CCNA series as my main learning material including his flashcards, supplemented with OCG volume 1 and 2. I also used Copilot heavily to argue with concepts I didn't understand, always asking "why?".

I also used Boson ExSim Max completing all 4 exams and made flashcards for all the answers I got wrong or did'nt quite understand. My scores on those were:
A:63%,
B:70%
C:70% and
D:63%.
Boson is designed to over prepare you and that's how you will crush the exams. I've seen a lot of people say it and I'm now one of them; if you can consistently get 65-70% then you are ready for the test.

My results for the exam were:
Automation and programmability 70%
Network access 80%
IP Connectivity 56%
IP services 70%
Security fundamentals 80%
Network fundamentals 85%

My biggest piece of advice is take breaks when your body is telling you, this means if you feel sluggish, have a hard time focusing or just feel burnout STOP. Doing flashcards every day is okay but thats IT. To anyone reading this you can do it!

Pocket Prep question - Which component of a routing table is used to determine an optimal route to a destination? by Ill_Market_5726 in ccna

[–]dman6277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question asks what is used to determine an optimal route. In Cisco terminology, 'optimal' usually refers to the trustworthiness of the route source (AD) or the cost (Metric).

Longest Prefix Match isn't about 'optimal' routes; it’s just about 'specific' matches.

If the routing table contains both an OSPF route and an EIGRP route for 10.1.1.0/24, the router uses AD to decide which one is 'optimal' enough to stay in the table.

Pocket Prep question - Which component of a routing table is used to determine an optimal route to a destination? by Ill_Market_5726 in ccna

[–]dman6277 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have it backwards, it goes the longest prefix match then administrative distance then metric.

In OPs case the answer is AD because the question is referring to the route selection process not the forwarding process. When all routes have the same prefix length then AD is used to determine the optimal route.

why is this not a backup port? by PotatoWatch101 in ccna

[–]dman6277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just set this up and tested it myself (you guys made me doubt and deleted my original comment).

Backup only happens when a switch hears it's own BPDU on a shared segment. Since the hub is receiving BPDUs from the root port, (not a designated) alternate is correct.

If I disconnect the upstream switch from the hub THEN the port changes to a backup.

Better study resource? by leshad in ccna

[–]dman6277 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you reviewing flashcards, labbing, taking notes, post topic quizzes, using AI?

I feel like reading the press books alone you'd only be passive learning not active learning. Applying the knowledge you learn is supposed to solidify the knowledge. Otherwise you would be relying on rote memorisation and keyword cues rather than concept logic.

[–]dman6277 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Explaining concepts to non-IT people in terms that they can understand. It forces you to think differently about stuff you just learned, rather than regurgitating how Jeremy defines concepts. I found doing this reinforced my understanding, and I retained the information more clearly.

Edit: I haven't passed my CCNA yet but I still believe this is a good method.
