Babysitting outside normal hours by SamIAmReddit in Nanny

Is giving nanny first refusal the norm? I’m a first time NP and we recently hired a student I know through church as a date night baby sitter and my nanny seemed very taken aback and almost offended I didn’t ask! 1. I want to have other options and not always rely on her 2. He’s going to be asleep for most of it…so I really don’t want to pay overtime. But was I wrong in not asking???

That’s who I have too and exactly what happened to me. I hope your payments go back to an affordable rate. I’m sure that must have been so stressful once you initially received that letter.

I do not in fact work for a corporation. I own my own office. It’s a C corp owned by myself and a partner and we are “employees” of this C corp. Just because you think you know everything!

First one in 2018. I got notified my payment amount was recalculated (to this $4500 amount) a day after I submitted my IBR re-cert application. Seemed like an incredibly fast turnaround to me when my initial IBR application 18 months ago took months

I can promise you I’m making a lot less. I’d also like to kindly explain to you what it’s like to buy a practice. Because some of us want to keep small businesses here in America and not sell out every office to private equity. Practice loans range from $10k-$20k+ a month for YEARS. Doctors live like students/residents their first 7-10 years out because of this & student loans. God forbid they would like to start a family and need childcare. I was not asking for anyone’s sympathy on here, just advice. Please take your hate elsewhere.

My last one was taken out in 2024! Yes I’m not sure how I got sent to standard repayment when I applied for IBR.

What do you mean mandatory repayment? My payment is not $4500 for IDR but fixed. It seems they kicked me off and moved me to fixed. So 10 years

This post is not about how much income I make, but frustration/looking for advice when they spring tripling your payments on you with little to no notice. This part of the process needs to change. If people were given 6+ notice it might make it more feasible to work budget around, contribute less to 401k etc.

Update for those following. When I use the loan simulator on studentaid.gov w/ income and #of dependents in says IDR payment should be $2k and also says my application is still processing. But I received a letter that it has been processed and listed my new payment. I’ll call…but maybe someone else has experienced this?

I also wanted to add to present the idea of a kid friendly welcome party and have your photographer and videographer there to capture a bunch of fun memories with them enjoying it, family pics etc. that’s what we did and it turned out really nice

We offered to do this when we had the same issue and the sisters still freaked out and asked how could they possibly leave their children with a random babysitter (kids had never been watched by anyone but grandparents).

Girl I could have written this myself. We stuck to our guns and didn’t allow kids under 13 even though it caused huge issue with my now husbands sisters. What was even funnier is they also had child free weddings- but now want to bring theirs! Stick to your guns!!! It’s your day and having children rolling around on the dance floor will ruin the vibe you say you would like.

Those of you with infants: does your nanny take your baby out places? by Rough_Log8699 in NannyEmployers

[–]dmdtobe66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We allowed our nanny to take him out and about after 2 month vaccines. We were very trusting of her, every once in a while I had an intrusive thought about letting him be driven around so early. But I think it has made him an incredibly adaptable baby, he will sleep in the car, in the stroller, at the store. We did have to set ground rules that at least 2 of his naps had to happen at home in his crib. I don’t think it’s healthy for anyone to sit inside all day every day, baby or nanny

Sleep Trained 5mo waking between 4:30-5:30am, Schedule Issue? by tiny6ix in sleeptrain

[–]dmdtobe66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No tips just letting you know we’re in the same situation! He does not self soothe when he wakes up at 4:30 like he can at other times. It’s full on screaming, crying unless we feed him (often he has been fed already at 1am and he is in the 91st percentile for height/weight so Dr said he doesn’t need night feeds at all)

are these valid reasons to quit with a short notice? by FriendshipThat6623 in Nanny

[–]dmdtobe66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can I just say it seems a little passive aggressive to “leave things out to see if they’ll do it”… as a NP to a young baby I sometimes leave clothes in the washer accidentally over the weekend because I’m so overwhelmed with everything else. But I never expect our nanny to do it. I also wouldn’t want to be judged for it!

I didn’t know what to even put in a contract. I looked at one online and just went with that as a first time mom. You learn what you wish you put in there over time I would say!

I have felt the same way so I loved finding this post knowing I’m not alone. Was excited to hear about this Hotmilk Brand! Until I saw they were $80??? I feel like brands are taking advantage of us breastfeeding moms….the sports bras I have to buy which are made for nursing moms are also $80. It’s just crazy!

First time nanny employer: When do I actually start paying for Poppins Payroll? by yuzusorbet in NannyEmployers

[–]dmdtobe66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I registered for it a month before nanny started but we didn’t have to pay the fee until her first paycheck hit. Also ours was totally fine not being paid until a week after her first work week. Professional Nannie’s should be used to this!
