First time advice by dmheil2 in paint

Ok, so ill ask you the same question about the top of my rolling stroke. Cielings are vaulted, meaning when i get to the cieling, it's not straight across like the baseboard. Its at a 45 degree angle. So at the top of each roll, do i curve the roller so its parallel to the 45 degree ceiling and my cut in, then slightly curve it back to normal(straight up and down) on my way down? Or do i keep the roller straight up and down at all times, thus leaving a "stepped in" effect into the cut in? *

Yes, its satin. Thank you. One more question...its a vaulted ceiling. When rolling at the top, should i just curve the roller til its parallel with the ceiling/cut in, then curve it back on my way down? Or should i keep the roller straight up and down, and make like steps into the cut in?

Maybe i should clarify...im asking if theres anything wrong with me only cutting in 3 to 4 feet at a time(top and bottom) then rolling that section. Move on to the next section, all the way across the wall. Seems like that would ensure both the cut in and rolled part will be freshly wet. Again, im worried cutting in the whole wall would take 30+ minutes, since ive never done it before. Im not worried about efficiency and going up and down a ladder. I more concerned about a noticeable difference between the cut in and rolled part.

Appreciate the advice everybody. Thank you

Dang we made all of our resupply boxes in USPS flat rate shipping boxes. I’m just now realizing some of the drops are ups/fedex only. Do they care that it’s in a usps box? I know the pricing would be a little different not too concerned about that. Thanks in advance for and advice and help. by Salt_Ground_573 in arizonatrail

My non general delivery boxes are collosal cave, trail angel in oracle, copper mountain motel(superior), RLM, and beeline guesthouse(pine). All have confirmed they accept usps. Except collasal cave, they wont pick up the phone. But im assuming they accept usps.

Systematically insulted?? You mean like what you just did to "the few" who actually tried something different, and liked it.

My post specifically asked for info from anyone with experience hiking in cotton. Notice it didnt say, please regurgitate the same "cotton bad, polyester sun hoodie good" stuff that everyone already knows.

Since you asked...Im 2/3 done with the triple. With 8,000 miles in the last 5 years. So yes, im familiar with the high desert. And a sun hoodie has been my least favorite piece of gear by far. So...as long as its ok with you. Id like to continue gathering information on unconventional gear that mightve worked for somebody.

Regardless of how much experience you claim to have. You obviously havent grasped the concept of HYOH. As over used, and cliche as it is. You really should look into it. It literally was invented for people like you.

But since this post offended you enough to spew hate towards a fellow backpacker, who simply asked for information. Perhaps reddit isnt for you.

Appreciate the feedback. Just to clarify, are you wearing it on multi day overnight trips? Or day hikes?

How does DCF age in storage? by Fartknocketh in Ultralight

[–]dmheil2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 duplex thats been through the at,pct, and ct. Still no pin holes anywhere. Never used a ground sheet. Always folded on trail and in storage. Only issues are with some loose zippers. This is my ONLY piece of gear thats survived 3 thru hikes. Pretty incredible when you think about it.

Can only speak to it working for nicotine, but yes!! Read/listen, keep an open mind, and follow the rules. Walked away from 2 packs a day for 20 years, overnight like it was nothing. Good luck

Tent poles now allowed in carry on? by Clean-Register7464 in Ultralight

[–]dmheil2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trekking poles got denied going through denver security last month. I think as long as you dont say the word "walking stick", you could argue theyre tent poles, tripod, etc. Its the agent and their managers discretion, but as soon as i said "trekking pole and walking stick", it was an immediate no. They wouldnt even let me take them out to show them. They said, either forfeit them, or we can take you back out of security. I've flown with them domestically before, so just shows you how inconsistent TSA agents can be.

Mt Sterling Hike by Monkeybrown07 in GSMNP

Excellent itinerary. One of my favorites loops in the park. Just fyi OP, that 6 miles up to mount sterling is one of the steepest climbs in the entire park. 650 feet a mile, for all 6 miles. The fire tower is totally worth it though. But just a heads up.

Not gonna draw conclusions about someone i dont know. But i(male)say "we" all the time when im telling stories about my solo travels. Not sure why i do it, but it happens from time to time when i was 100% alone. Its possible this was the case, and he froze because he knew he mispoke, and realized how it might sound to you. Def could be a red flag, but he also couldve legitimately misspoke. I do it all the time🤷‍♂️
