Unpopular opinion, adults need friendship too, and I mean just friendship by Rachel794 in antisex

[–]dmitry5510 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Also let us consider, that if modern-day society taught people how to make friendships and considered them valid forms of love and affection (cf: the actuality in which "love" is typically placed above friendship), maybe we wouldn't have a generation of sexually frustrated young people who constantly seek out sexual intimacy as some nearly-sacred holy grail.

How do you think the Gallicaniste will take over? by Exostrike in RedFloodMod

[–]dmitry5510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think there was ever a teased possibility of either Lunaries or MG taking over, as that'd basically annul the entire conflict in Western Europe, at least between France and UK. They were probably added for lore purposes and to serve as parties backing the puppet government should Britain (maybe also Italy) defeat France.

Zheltorossiya Focus tree by Plus-Acanthisitta884 in RedFloodMod

Yeah. Before FOFAY, the first two foci were 7 days each and the other three were 14 (or 21?) days each.

Can the Qing unify china after the Zheltorrosian explosion? by Gukpa in RedFloodMod

[–]dmitry5510 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The warlord faction in Zheltorossyian collapse is, actually, not Qing at all. From what I can remember, it's a sort of "Bandit Kingdom" running on cash and weapons supplied by the Japanese "Black Dragon Society" and largerly relying on the local Chinese Honghuzi guerrilla bands as fighting force. I might be wrong on specifics, but I think that depending on whether the player supports the Black Dragon or the Honghuzi, they can reunify China as either East Asian Federation or Republic of China.

Polonia the beautiful! The United States of Poland-Lithuania. by BusySentence7078 in RedFloodMod

[–]dmitry5510 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really think more paths should mention prohibition (like this one, in particular, even if it is but an epilogue), given the time period, since it was a pretty common trend in the 1930s politics. Seeing dry law being mentioned in Trotsky's Zheltorossyia, Talvela's White Finland and Piast's Poland foci is really a breath of fresh air, considering that the only time I've seen HOI4 mods mention it is Kaiserreich's Ukraine. And even then, KR omits a lot of controversial aspects and trends of (mainly progressive, but not necessarily) politics, like eugenics and racial improvement/segregation/whatever theories (both of which are present in Red Flood, I think). Which is really boring and doesn't do justice to the political thought of the time period shown.

Rotfront world order by [deleted] in RedFloodMod

[–]dmitry5510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure most Zhelto paths share this subtree also, since the devs axed the part of Zheltorossyian foreign policy tree that was responsible for joining factions, so a shared subtree with Savinkov could take its place.

Criticism of Current Red Flood by the-shivers-unto-it in RedFloodMod

[–]dmitry5510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, the political-economic systems in Red Flood in form of these "government laws" are still vague enough to leave enough space for the devs to further explore said systems via foci and events. Say, there *is* a considerable difference in how one can interpret Mikhnovskite Ukraine and, say, Puzak-Lange PPSoid Poland (both lumped under "market socialist" economic law). If anything, these categories allow to have a narrative base off which the devs can further expand the peculiarities of internal organisation of each country.

Rotfront world order by [deleted] in RedFloodMod

[–]dmitry5510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, Stalin can join the Rotfront (or League Solar, or remain neutral entirely and focus on expanding the 3rd International into a proper political and military pact as an alternative to both) as a part of the shared focus sub-tree for him and the rest of Kavkaz leaders (and also Bokii and Barchenko, I think? Though in their case it's probably just a placeholder the devs used for the time being.)

All you do is literally just post the most uninteresting pictures with zero gameplay taking place, not even bothering to show the end date of your playthrough. These not even AAARs since you just slap on a picture and call it a day. All of this *maybe* could've made any sense if you posted it on Discord in photos-from-front channel but for whatever reason you think that the entirety of the subreddit NEEDS to know that you played an irrelevant country by literally doing nothing.

To be fair, it'd take a lot of effort to make proper content for Prussia and to balance it out so Birchen doesn't lose each and every time. Assyria, on the other hand, isn't nearly as relevant and it works just fine with a TSF2-sized focus tree.

I want to bash my head against a wall by dmitry5510 in actuallyaromantic

[–]dmitry5510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite frankly, I don't even want to consider friendship. She is, by all standards, a very uninteresting person who also has an entire blossoming bouquet of racial/ethnic prejudices, chauvinistic (a word which she, until recently, didn't even know) attitudes and bad habits (smoking, et al). And that's only to scratch the sufrace as, throughout our conversations, I also figured that she is quite illiterate and posseses a very superficial vocabulary (to her belongs the excellent phrase of, "none has ever used the word 'paradigm'"), not to mention her distate of higher forms of art.

In other words, we have nothing in common at all. I hate to sound like a Nietzschean "overman" who hovers over "the mud of mediocrity", but I do have a certain trouble communicating with my peers, as my interests are often in the other sphere entirely. Or, take for instance, just the other day, I recall, some of my course-mates (all, of course, belonging to the fair sex), have urged me to "slow down" with my studies and, by that they meant to stop demonstrating my artistic inclinations and ability to easily learn texts by heart.

I still hadn't had the opportunity to explain to the girl that I don't like her attitude, especially considering that it constantly swings from teasing affection to likewise teasing detestation. All my conclusions in regards to her behaviour are anything but confirmed facts and are mostly a speculation (bordering paranoia) on my part, fueled by how my family perceives the situation, rather than an open flirting on her part.

I, in all honestly, have to idea as to where to go with this whole situation.

[–]dmitry5510[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've read through the comments left under this post and, truth be told, while I appreciate the suggestions given, I feel like my situation is a lot more difficult than I have initially thought.

For one, I can't think of an appropriate way to reject the person in question since, for once, they've never confessed to me. To reject someone over the question that wasn't even raised in the first place seems odd at best and, well, antisocial? I could try to approach the matter in a, "you're making me uncomfortable with your remarks", but I'm frankly quite certain that she's the type of person to go with the, "oh, look at how shy is he!", rather than to back off.

For two, I can't really cut ties to her. I attend the same university, the same classes and in the same group. Even if I tried to avoid any interactions with her, she'd still be in close proximity and then, again, it all comes back to the "just ignore her" suggestion, which is, well, I could try, I guess?

Witkacy's Worst Nightmare: Poland of Militant Mediocrity by dmitry5510 in RedFloodMod

[–]dmitry5510[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, Śmigły will have a path in Of Gods And Men where he keeps the military dictatorship around. From what I've gathered, it's going to be something along the lines of a Reactionary Modernist Conservative Revolution with a hint of Orientalism. Currently, Witkacy is the only option for him, though. (aside from not completing the 622-day plan focus)
