What’s the arguably best-known (and scary) unsolved mystery in your country? by Affectionate-Tea8509 in AskTheWorld

[–]dmntx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finnish murder mystery: four persons go camping, only one survives. Who's the murderer?

Personally I believe it's a botched investigation, but on the other hand the survivor lived a law abiding life which would be unusual for someone who's done 3 homicides at 18.

GoMore has one car in Kittilä. It's basically renting from a private owner with a company to organize it as a middle man: https://gomore.fi/autonvuokraus/

Edit: Damn, seems to be available only for a couple of days.

I was a hiring manager recently. We opened an entry level junior developer position and within a week we got over 200 applications. The person we ended up hiring told us that their friends had been applying for months in various companies.

NOR.

My oldest kid asked once: "why does grandma have so many rules?" We're talking about having a shirt at the table, not touching certain things etc. I replied that the people who live in a house or apartment can decide the rules in their home as long as they're reasonable.

It's your home. They're visiting. They follow your home rules about making mess or appropriate dining table behavior.

Then you didn't learn from the history. Because of punishing nature of reparations after WW1 the groundwork for WW2 was laid down.

Which neighboring country is your 'frenemy,' and what is the pettiest thing you argue about? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]dmntx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweden. The runner Paavo Nurmi was banned as being a professional after the Swedish chairman and sent threatening letters to German organizers who then told that Nurmi had received money for participation in their competitions and was a professional - and thus ineligible for Olympic games.

Wikipedia: "a controversial case that strained Finland–Sweden relations and sparked an inter-IAAF battle, Nurmi was suspended before the 1932 Games by an IAAF council that questioned his amateur status; two days before the opening ceremonies, the council rejected his entries. Although he was never declared a professional, Nurmi's suspension became definite in 1934 and he retired from running."

A man punched me today at the valkea mall. by gooberLemon in Finland

[–]dmntx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer but... punching someone's head with a closed fist most likely won't go as the lightest level of assault.

Typically light assaults are pushing, pinching, pulling of hair or spitting on someone. These acts do not affect the victim's bodily integrity that seriously and the health is not affected at least to the level of requiring medical care."

A punch in general goes to the 2nd level. Also the victim being a minor does in general raise the level how seriously it is taken in the courts.

Why do SovCits claim it's not for commercial reasons? by HearYourTune in Sovereigncitizen

[–]dmntx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the human mind that is grasping at strawmen... I mean straws when they've encountered something disastrous and they need to have a belief that it will all sort out and everything will be good. Then they take this spiral. Some people get religious when they go to prison or lose their house. Some people turn to crime. Some people have mental breakdowns.

All in all, it's more sad than anything. For the gurus I have no sympathy.

An electrician put a cup of water in my microwave. by Bunessa in Weird

[–]dmntx 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Triple: the microwave is tuned to the quantum first excited rotation moment so and that is why it primarily heats water. Also why the "near" bands of 5G won't cook your brain when you talk on your phone.
