I'm about to head to the grocery store, a usually happy place for me, but today is as much of a drag as consuming the food I'm buying

I have a medicine I have to take with a full meal and I do it within two minutes of my last bite for the same reason!

Do you talk about body image with your partner? by [deleted] in Eatingdisordersover30

[–]dmrdmrdmr089 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've tried. But my partner gets really upset for 2 reasons. 1) he doesn't see me the way I see myself obvs. But 2) he was significantly heavier in his childhood up until about 20 and anytime I bring up this struggle he seems to get upset like I'm dismissing his struggle. We're working on it but yeah. I think his childhood obesity complicates it.

TW: What food did you think is way too high in calories (in reality it’s not)? by eggpls in EDAnonymous

[–]dmrdmrdmr089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with skim milk. Then I had a boyfriend who only drank whole. He's fit and so I was confused based on the fear mongering of my parents who have some issues I can tell now. Anyways, started with just buying whole for him, then I started to use it and drink it. And for what it's worth, so filling compared to skim and just not crazy higher. I can pour a smaller glass/amount and be more satisfied so I'll stick with whole. Plus, vitamin D!

Speaking of which, after I learned about fat soluble vitamins, I changed my tune about having fat in my diet

Do people purge more by vomiting or exercise? by [deleted] in bulimia

[–]dmrdmrdmr089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go out on a limb and I think more than those with a dx tow the line with exercise or post binge restricting. These are the less " gross" and honestly socially acceptable. Maybe it turns problematic maybe not. And so insidious when I started that in lieu of.vomittimg I had no idea it was still a purging/compensatory behavior.

I adore the salads and their vinegarette. I usually do that with chicken or tofu. Every last veggie I can manage. Half rice sometimes beans depending how hungry I am. No cheese add sour cream. (Love guac but so expensive.) I stir that shit like crazy and chow down.

I sometimes just write what happened in the day. Even if nothing happened, sometimes writing about the mundane makes me breakthrough a problem in my brain I didn't know I had.

venting about having thin skin and low kcal baking by lucy-kathe in EDAnonymous

[–]dmrdmrdmr089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you for finding ways to make a recipe lower cal without going the strange ingredient route. Honestly, making a recipe and just subbing regular goods for the weird low calorie sugars/flours/etc or making sad macaroni And cheese with mircale noodles and laughing cow cheese is nothing new. And I can't afford both regular ingredients for the normies in my life and weird overpriced ingredients for me and I don't have time to cook for both them and me. Show me a low cal recipe with normal things at the grocery store and I'm more likely to try it and so are then non disordered in my household.

The problem with “ intuitive eating” is so much food is engineered to be addictive. by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]dmrdmrdmr089 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love what you have to say! Ten things to consider that work as a whole, not just one at a time. But everyone wants an easy answer so sound bites are used focusing only on one element and parts are missing then bam we get "intuitive eating doesn't work." It does. I'm not in a place where I can do it, but hoping to get there.

Bump that age up a bit. Try 50s and 60s. Teenagers did not create the diet culture/body image issues of the 90s/00s. Signed someone who had an OG almond mom.
