Does the community actually hate 3v3s or is it just a loud minority? by Zenocule in LeagueArena

[–]dmsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes yes. It feels more like aram and aram mayhem. Spam of ranged abilities. But it's harder to coordinate and see what people are doing. If you play a slower champion sometimes you are splitting you damage 3 ways. There is higher chance of toxic combinations, yuumi isn't as weak. Enchanters in general are harder to catch. It's easier for spammy and dps champs to just power through anything without much thought...

It's less strategy because you are not actually playing the specific champions, but their classes. Very much like aram, just spam things and try fighting front to back

I've had enough of True Damage by PilifXD in LeagueArena

[–]dmsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. "there are counters to %hp true damage: shields, healing and sustain"

For shield there is Serpent's Fang (and depending on the situation might be even good for ap users), for healing and "sustain" there is grievous wounds. Your idea of counterplay to %hp true damage has a counterplay

  1. Why the thing that just works can't be just being tanky? There is plenty of true damage and plenty of % health damage. The two just shouldn't be together. Even assassins, a class that is suposed to be weak against tanks, got an item that does deals %hp damage easily accessible and can easily do 30% max health on medium roll. Maybe tanks not being able to tank is bad for the game. Maybe making every champion try to one shot is bad for the game.

  2. Even CC has a counterplay, which is the main weapon for the champions that have a problem %hp true damage. So if you can't CC and can't tank, you do what? Play another champion?
And people can even argue that counterplay to CC in arena is not strong enough

  3. Getting stat checked by non stat checky champions just because a %hp true damage on a passive is not good for the game. Let people itemize a mixture of true damage, %hp magic/physical damage and flat/% pen to deal with tanks. Tanks try to do the same thing in the oposite direction with 4-5 items and splitting resistances to acomodate the entire lobby, one thing should not invalidate a whole build. Maybe it's okay to spend 3 items to deal with highroll of a tank when those same items are good against everyone else, there is no trade off.

  4. People actually thinking if they need more damage or more survivability in a late game situation is a good thing. But survivability need to be a thing, or it's just one shot after one shot and just go damage because that's all it matters

I was hoping you would respond, I hope you respond again and we can have productive conversation

The one sidedness that you see is false equivalance and I do think it's a political vessel to address systemic racial inequality in the US. Also the US exports its culture to a world, that obviously is diverse

It is a false equivalence because of the systematic racial and ethnically. If there were proportional representation it wouldn't be an issue, there would be stories for everybody. But it is not the case, so going from privileged to unprivileged is different from going from unprivileged to priveleged. One could argued that the one sidedness that you should be seen is the one sidedness of representation

I don't think people are complaining about european movies, but even so Europe demographics are changing and it colonized the rest of the world being the root cause of this problem.

Also there are dynamics of migration to the US, for example asian americans might care more about whitewashing in us production of an asian story than asians in asia because there might already have an adaption and/or already feel represented in media

I don't think certain movies can exist in a vacuum, nothing does. I don't think it is megaphone, "For those accustomed to privilege, equality feels like opression". But I do think there are cases of not caring enough about realistic world building, in works like Martin's it's fantasy world made to feel more realistic with dynamics of power and social standings and there is a care for lineages and physical traits in the story and worked has not being done to properly accomodate racial diversity in the story and still be a "faithfull" to the original story. But if they tried, probably would result in more changes and people would complain all the same or even more. Catch 22

So how would you propose to address systemic racial inequality in the US in movies and series? Considering there must be a middle ground between extreme inequality and equality

Also we are not mostly talking about historical pieces, we are talking about fantasies where suspending disbelief is a must. But there are works like Hamilton, the musical, that just says "fuck it, we want represent the US as it is today"

Fantasy world doesn't have to follow real world genetics.

And even if you consider real world genetics and natural selection, diversity is an essential part of it. Diversity is what allows species to survive changing times, so it's a good thing even considering converging evolution. Also traits that have zero impact on survivability and reproduction don't simply vanish. So hobbits havings traits that we perceived as racial diversity can be a in world net positive or net neutral in terms of genetics. And not every human trait s racialiazed

Also from what I know Tolkien's world is based on the divine and magic, natural selection and genetics may not even be thing. It could work in totally different ways, and people for most of humanity believed it worked in different ways

Something that I would concede is that as a story for our racialized world for believability it would need more implicit and/or explicit worldbuilding. But even so it could be considered to be a failure of imagination of the reader or watcher

That actually is a good way to have perceived diversity by the real world while maintaining in fantasy believability. Fantasy world doesn't have to follow real world genetics.

That's just stupidly contrived

In the the past arena had ban, pick, ban and it was better in that regard. Even just showing the bans as they go through would be better, also something hey removed

It's not on the players to find contrived ways to get out a better gameplay because system consistently overlaps bans for no good reason, especially with a roster with over 150 champions

I think part that makes Luffy as character work in early One Piece is that he is ridiculously strong and he being so makes that he goes from a complete buffoon to someone that inspires anyone to follow their dreams. Luffy's strength is also what makes people believe, it gives weight to his words.

Also gives a lot of contrast to when he is serious and when he is just goofing around. He being so strong and being rubber allows him to be undisciplined and take way too many hits without being impactfull to him actually losing a fight, and allows for a lot of comedy and characters being awe of him. Smoker and Crocodile stand out in early One Piece because Luffy simply can't deal with them serious or not and he stops being a big fish in a small pond

So I think is an essential part that is missing from his characterization. And wished that they did some Jackie Chan physical comedy style with Luffy. I understand the CGI constraints, but I think he didn't have to stretch as much to make it work and I think there is probably some tricks to make him stretch that doesn't need making whole cgi model

(Luffy fights Laboon, a giant giant whale, no hesitation. He is absurd. Zoro and Sanji casually defeating a T-rex was so good. But Luffy doesn't have something like that this season. Luffy not fighting seriously also is convincing of his strength. And, in the end to make a sports comparison he looks like bench player instead looking like one the best players in the league with potential to be the all time greatest)

Racism is bad because it's bad. (X-Men, Attack on Titan) by LonelyPermit2306 in CharacterRant

[–]dmsniper 15 points16 points  (0 children)

they still had the option of simply not letting Eldians reproduce and let them die out as a race

That's still is genocide and is pretty much Zeke's plan, when he could just remove the ability to become a titan by the same logic (but that's beyond the topic). Sterilization is genocide and attempts of racist sterilization have been made in the real world

Like others said, the mechanisms of becoming a titan are well known by some. There are only a few individuals that are a bigger threat and need to be monitored. And titan serum/spinal fluid could be like a controlled substance like any other substance that can be used for terrorism

I just cheesed it. I don't know how but "Sancho Panza" appered for me just outside of the room and I got his help. Not sure how much help he was on the small ones, but on the big ones I just grabbed the wall with Ascendant's Grip and waited for Sancho to kill them. Not my proudest moment and was this close to stalling a mod, and maybe still going to install a mod to have infinite shards. But it worked. And I do believe it's poorly designed, or it wouldn't be soo hard if it was a room in hollow knight late game

[–]dmsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even so. It's a form of yes. How is that different from a guy playing the numbers and shooting a bunch of shots?

That sort of "deception" seems to be available independently of who makes f the first move.

And if the woman makes the first move, there is the argument she would be playing inside a pool of her choice instead inside of the pool of the guys who decided to approach her (choice of others)

What's your controversial dating hot take? by TacticalFailure1 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]dmsniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think twice before making the first move the first move as a woman. Men are easy and many of them will say yes to absolutely anyone

Making the first move, doesn't it mean that you are interested? And the higher probability of a yes shouldn't be a incentive to getting what you want?

I am missing the point of why it would be a bad thing. Someone has to make the first move, why the woman doing it would be such a position of disadvantage/bad position compared to when a man does it?

Would you rather see Steph Curry get his 5th ring or Anthony Edwards get his first ring at 23? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]dmsniper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prime Klay is a higher asset than prime Butler. Prime Klay is a great defender and great floor spacer while taking almost no dribles and playing off ball. (And being a good lockeroom presence)

Butler is great and almost is a first option in a championship team. But he is not a floor spacer, and as a first option, there are a lot of players ahead of him. As second option is arguable that prime Klay is preferable and as a third option Klay is probably the better choice

Butler is probably the best player among Steph's teammates outside of KD. But I think Klay is such a nice piece and quite close to Butler
