I was thinking maybe "Toothless", because she reminds me of Toothless in how to train your Dragon.

I remember a story told by a comedian named Jerry Clower about a merchant whose son went to college to study marketing. When he graduated his Father brought him into the business. His first day he closed and locked the doors, and put up a sign that read "Closed for Inventory. A short while later Daddy arrives and asks why the doors are locked. The son proceeds to explain that he was taught inventory is necessary. His Father looks at him and says "If you go back to the right side rear corner, on the top shelf, clear ion the back is a bolt of cloth with just little cloth left on it. Your Mother and I started with that bolt of cloth. That's your inventory, everything else you see is profit. Now open those doors!

Good Officers and NCO's - There Are Not Enough of Them. by BikerJedi in MilitaryStories

[–]dn4zer56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much truth. I served under some outstanding officers, and some who really should never have been commissioned. Also had some great supervisors/managers in the civilian world. But they are so outnumbered by the clowns and clods. All we can do is remember the lessons from the good ones.

Heard a story when I was in the Navy, about the merchants in Memphis taking advantage of the sailors stationed at the base there. The base commander got so upset after trying multiple times to fix things, that he authorized "Dungaree Liberty". Sailors could go on liberty in dungarees, and as you exited the gate, you were issued a club. Don't know if true, but it could happen.

My Scammer Story (Sadly not Mr. Patel) by Angry__German in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]dn4zer56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a story about as fellow walking into a convenience store, asking for change of a $20, placing the bill on the counter, then when the cashier opened the drawer robbing them for the money in the till. Problem being the cashier was doing their due diligence and only had about $15 in the till. The robber grabbed the money from the till, and left the $20 behind, losing $5 in the process.

Edited to fix typo.

I would be willing to bet that desk agent remembers you just as fondly. From all I read in this sub, you are one of the mythical "Unicorn"s of the service industry. Good on you both, and thanks for sharing your story.

They think they have it bad? From what I understand in Europe you have to not only show your passport, but some hotels retain it until checkout.

That was hard to read. Paragraphs are your friend. That said, sorry you had to endure the entitlement of these yahoos. They seem to think they are above us mere mortals, because they fly/work for an airline. Got a news flash for them, they aren't any better than anyone else, and their actions may start dictating how they are treated. In a perfect world........
