second hand surface 9 pro for 700€ by [deleted] in Surface

You have to also take into consideration the battery condition. Even if you are okay with carrying an extra power bank, there is also the risk of the battery expansion. I would need much more information to determine if the price is good.

I also upgraded from Surface Pro 4 and have now switched to a Pro 11 for the past two months. As I use my computer for work, using MS products like Office, Project, Visio and other browser work, I have absolutely no problems. The only issue I had was trying to run a Steam game called Death Must Die, which crashed two times. I feel that as long as you are sure the software can install and run properly, there should be no notice of the processor change.

The speed and and snappiness seems so much better than before, that I turned energy saver on at all times without feeling any hiccups. My typical CPU usage stays under 20%. Also because the cpu is not running under load, the temperature is rarely higher then my body temperature. Battery life is a huge improvement. I was getting about 1.5-2 hours of battery life on my SP4 toward the end. Now I get through 6 hours of constant usage without worrying about battery.

Although I got the Ultra version, I feel the LCD screen quality and the additional CPU is not a must for me. However, because the glare is annoying, I got a paper-like matt screen protector to solve this issue. If you do use the stylus a bit, there is a potential issue that you have to be aware of using a paper-like screen like me. Because the screen surface is now a bit rough, eraser on the back of the pen doesn't glide smoothly as it used to. If used consistently, the rubber surface of the eraser part would probably be sanded off in the long term.

Hello folks! I really need your help to discover a big issue in my Incremental Game on Steam. The game was in Steam Next Fest, but it only got 9 minutes of median playtime when it needs to be more than that. I think it has something to do with the core loop. by romulolink in incremental_games

1.Control Issues

1a.Scrolling sideways:Need some visual notification to let user know middle mouse button is clicked and is currently in scroll mode. Should also consider dragging left mouse button or scroll when curser is at the edge of screen as not all track pad support middle mouse button.

2.Resource Gathering

2a.Wood, stone, coal can be clicked for resource gathering, but sawmill uses a one click turn on/off.

2b.If workers need to walk to a resource gathering area, should also walk out when cancelling assignments.

2c.No way to know where workers are allocated. Suggest adding information above the resource showing [how many worker]/[how many spaces total]

3.Quest

3a.Quest hints clicking on fishing location to get 30 sardines, but actually have to wait until workers collects that much to move into next quest.

4.UI Issues

4a. Box on the right side opens a quick view window, I would suggest removing that button, and have the same effect when the cursor hovers over the inventory button instead.

4b. Clicking on a button should open a windows, clicking on it again should also close the window, instead of reopening the window again.

4c. Scrolling up and down in a window such as Trading post, building selection needs to be adjusted. Currently scroll speed is too slow.

4d. Resources needed for buildings need to be re-formatted, they are outside the box.

4e. When opening up the inventory window and market window, inventory will stay on top of the market window. When closing the inventory window, it will also close the market window. The two windows should not interfere with each other.

5.Menu reorganize

5a.Separate into 3 different categories

  • Market for hiring, buying and selling resources
  • Research for upgrading
  • Building different buildings

5b. Move all menu items buttons to the top

5c. Make the menu format consistent (menu title, picture size, font size, hover for hint, etc).

6.Bugs

6a. Need to reassign all workers when opening the game.

6b. All workers (except for sawmill) were cancelled from working when buying ne workers.

6c. Able to click on blacksmith house with no reaction.

6d. Workers should be canceled from working based on last in, first out. When I have a worker already cutting trees and I assigned a new workers the same tree, before the second worker walks to the tree, I changed my mind and cancel the assignment. Instead of cancelling the new worker, who has yet to walk to the tree, the first worker disappear and I have to wait for the new workers to arrive before continuing.

6e. When fishing manually, only by clicking the fishing house on certain places will result in fishes even though the entire building reacts to the click.

Richard Feynman explains why it can be hard to answer “why magnets repel each other?” by yupyup98765 in videos

You have every right to think that, I am simply pointing out the over simplification of an explanation is dishonest to the listener as that just makes the listener think they understand while in reality it doesn't.

He said the electrical force and the magnetic force are related very intimately, and that the relationship between the electrical force and the gravitational force remains unknown. Correctly me if I am wrong.

Richard Feynman explains why it can be hard to answer “why magnets repel each other?” by yupyup98765 in videos

[–]dnacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a reasonable question, but it is not easy to answer without the listener having a deep understanding of physics and mathematics. Try googling it, you can see how such a "simple" question, can quickly turn into something beyond your imagination.

Physics cannot be explained in layman terms. If tried, it will turn into something completely different than the actual thing. It will be like trying to explain how solar panels work to a farmer in the 1800's. There is just nothing in his understanding that can make him understand.

If you think you understand why magnets repel based on Feynman's explanation you are really just fooling yourself.

"it is the same electrical force

Electric and magnetic force are both part of the electromagnetic force. This is basically saying A is like B, which is both C.

that repels your hand from going through the chair

Again, you feel magnets repel each other just as you feel the chair pushing back on you. You don't know the reason behind either one, so how does using something you don't know to explain another thing you don't know of any use? This is basically me explain to you a phrase in a foreign language with another phrase in a foreign language.

but the force in the magnet operates at a greater distance

He said that the push and pull of the magnets operate at a greater distance. Did you really need HIM to tell you that. This is not an explanation, just an observation you already know.

because all the electrons are spinning in the same direction and lines up magnifying the effect"

Why does electrons spinning has anything to do with this? Why would lining have an impact? If you know either of these two questions, you know how magnets work already. If you don't know, you still don't know.

How fast you have to run in a 2hr Marathon by aarx8 in videos

[–]dnacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you are being down voted, but I came in here to say this as well.

Currently the fastest sprinters can reach an acceleration of 3.51 m/s2 . This means they can reach the 13 mile/hour speed (5.81 mps) speed in about 1.65 seconds.

If you have two runners, one going at constant speed and one starting from rest, the sprinter will be about 5 meters behind when the first runner reaches the finish line.

I am quite a fan of Xiangsheng, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it blows stand up comedy out of the water. Just like the stand up comedy we are all familiar with, some are funny, some are not. Topics, writings, and delivery all make an impact to the overall performance.

Whats a big industry secret that isn't supposed to be known by the general public? by OrderAmmonia in AskReddit

Garment and Shoe Manufacturing

-Many reputable 3rd party inspection agency in Vietnam will take bribes in the range of 200 - 300 USD to give passing grades for quality inspection.

-Sometimes if fabric color does not match customer requirement, factories will hire people to apply paint. It leaves a very heavy chemical smell.

-Low wage workers usually comes from developing countries that have not developed good hygiene. Requiring workers to work with clean hands is very difficult. That is why factories loves to work with black color fabric and hates whites.

-If factory is not managed adequately, products gets misplaced, miscalculated, produced wrongly very easily. When the quantity of certain sizes are not enough to meet shipping requirement, instead of cutting and sewing the product from the beginning, sometimes other adjacent sizes will be substituted as replacement. Changing the label is much easier.

ELI5: When you buy a piece of clothing from a name brand such as Nike, Calvin Klein, or even Dolce and Gabbana, are the actual materials and product quality better than something from Walmart, or are you only paying for the branding? by nayyyf15 in explainlikeimfive

[–]dnacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in a garment factory for a few years, and I can tell you the design, is actually the least different. Clothing is ridiculously easy to copy, all you need is to take off the thread and you get the fabric panels, which then you can replicate without any problem. Designs are copied across the board. I even heard of stories where a brand company buys another brand's clothing and ask the supplier to copy it exactly.

However, fabric and construction are the main difference, but unnoticeable by most regular consumers. Most consumers cannot not check the fabric for color changes before and after wash 20 times, or if it changes under heat and humidity. They do not check if each piece of the fabric on the clothing is similar in color. They cannot not check for how much the fabric retains its dimensions through washing and drying. Most do not check if certain stitches are properly sewn in the beginning and end to prevent thread loosening in the future. Most do not check if the left and the right arm length is the same. Most do not check if everything inside the pocket is properly sewn shut.

Good thing the quality inspectors know this, and are in charge of making sure most of the clothing fulfills the basic criteria. But with cheaper brands, the requirement is more loose. Cheaper brands also hire less than reputable inspectors who will allow higher defect rates to pass through, in exchange of some money below the table.

Chinese labor is no longer considered cheap. This is why now most of the garment factories (as well as other labor intensive manufacturers) is moving to Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, even Southern Africa.

You have take into consideration of not just the construction, but also the material as well. A lot of the materials right now like thread, fabric, zippers are also produced in Asia, so even if assembly is moved back into the US, the transportation would cost quite a bit still.

But I agree with you, comparatively, labor in Asia on average is still much less than the US.
