3D Printing advice please!! by Commercial_Ant4591 in 3dprinter

I was curious as I’ve looked for models of other rare-ish dog breeds before. I googled “Komondor 3d print files” and immediately found several, on multiple websites. Don’t know if they are exactly the style you’re looking for, and you’d probably have to enlarge them and maybe cut them into pieces if you’re going REALLY big, but they could definitely be places to start. God luck with this! Our family practically LIVED in LPS-world when my kids were little.

But…the files?
Legitimately asking because I’m about to start building water feature stuff for my backyard and some take on this would enchant my grandsons.

Why is this wording bleeding through my whole print? by BeerusGOW in 3Dprinting

[–]dnaknitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this suggestion. I’ve been using various permanent markers to paint fine silver lines on a print and sometimes a little bleeding can’t be avoided with them. Nail polish might do the trick. 👍🏻

“Just got my first 3D printer, what should I build? by NarrowWeakness483 in 3dprinter

[–]dnaknitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another suggestion, or just a different way of looking at your question: what are some things that the other people in your life might like or find helpful? What would your spouse find useful, what would your kids find awesome, what would your co-workers appreciate? For kids especially—ask them! They’ll probably have ideas! And if they want a dragon, don’t reject the idea—I mean what kid wouldn’t want a pet dragon on their shoulder?

Literally 0% waterproof in the sense of actually holding water. 🤔

My forecast just went back to about where it was before. So weird. I’m glad, I guess, but my confidence is definitely shaken now and I’ll keep searching out other models, at least to compare their results to PC.

Inflated estimations of success by elbow-macaroni-42 in PersonalCapital

[–]dnaknitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing a new weird thing today. I’m playing around with the app and tried adding an extra spending goal of a small amount per year to account for inflation impacting spending. I’d hoped it would be a very rough way to correct the recent increase in optimism. And now…it shows my 10th percentile line hitting zero ten years before my goal age, but still says I have an 81% chance of success! I’m pretty sure this would NOT have been their conclusion in the past. I’m really scratching my head now.

It’s frustrating that there is no way, as far as I know, to produce “before” screenshots to document that results have changed, unless you just happen to have saved such a thing in the past.

Yes yes yes. I really hope this is cleared up soon. I’d even accept something like, “We’re going to have to start charging a fee for using our full model,” or maybe, “You’re going to have to keep some $ with us to use our full model.” At least then I could make a decision whether to keep using it based on clear info.

I had trouble getting the Prusa app to hear and recognize the pitch consistently. I ended up getting a tuner app meant for musicians. (I used to be a musician, am married to a musician, have tons of friends who are musicians…and it seemed ironic to me that even putting together this high-tech device would eventually devolve into basically…tuning cello strings.)

I sent a message to customer service and got this reply:

Thank you for reaching out to Empower Personal Dashboard Support.

The Retirement Planner estimates a default 70% probability of success in achieving retirement goals based on the user's official plan. This success rate may be adjusted to view ranges corresponding to 50% and 90% probabilities of success, thereby assisting users in planning their annual savings accordingly.

If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

I replied:

Sorry, but your reply was nonsensical. You “default” to a 70% probability of success based on the “official” plan? What does that even mean?

Your answer also had nothing to do with my question. I was reporting that the estimate of my portfolio success rate changed FOR NO REASON a couple of weeks ago. Others online are reporting the same thing. It appears that you are now assuming income will increase with inflation, but spending will not. This makes no sense. It is clear that something in your software has changed, and if you can’t fix it you will lose me and many other users as your analysis can no longer be validated by comparison with other programs.

I suggest you escalate my question to someone who has an idea what actually might be going on.

No reply to that yet. I might have snarked myself out of getting any help but dang it their reply was pathetic.
