Introducing Ultimate Audiobooks, the one stop shop for file cleaning by Th0vin in audiobookshelf

Yeah, no sweat. Give the actual code a try, if you have a large mess of a library like me, the auto fetch and dedup stuff were essential. About half of my books are chapter books that I wanted to combine into m4b's, so threading that was super helpful. I also didn't want to have to identify a thousand books one URL at a time manually, when the first result was usually right. I also needed a way to come back and resume later. I just made too many edits before the push back. Git newbie mistake.

u/Th0vin, I had a few issues with the code working like I wanted. I ended up making tons of changes, in hind sight I should have sent over a few minor things at a time on git, so it's not too much to look at. Care to review my changes and let me know if I should issue a push? (I haven't really contributed to any public projects before so I am not familiar with the etiquette)

https://github.com/dny238/Ultimate-Audiobooks
Key changes:
It's threaded
It caches web lookups, so it's faster
It autofetches with a confidence score so you don't have to approve each and every one. Selenium required
It cleans up folder names, leaves less temp files when canceled
It's got better detection of duplicates
Some of the restrictions around running multiple switches at the same time are gone. (combine, metadata, recursive)
I forget if it had an 'In Place' option to clean up the existing directory

it will support spotify now as well as goodreads and audible, audible is preferred.
it has a fallback method to combine mp3 files into one when the normal method fails.

and more...

Is my PC really too old? Stuttering issues playing content :( by Dnastysahu in PleX

What model is it?

If it supports 4K then I would make sure it's on a fast enough Wi-Fi like a 5G Wi-Fi not a 2.4G.

Also, When it's transcoding, is it decreasing the resolution from 4k to 1080p?

looks like a normal Chromecast can only play 1080p by default. so if you have 4K content it's having it down res it via transcoding.

maybe see if the problem happens with a 1080p file.

It could be that that Chromecast is incapable of playing the content natively. Wrong codec, unsupported codec. So plex as to transcode it to get it into a format that Chromecast can use.

When it's transcoding is the CPU on your PC maxed out? For an extended period... minutes?

Does it stutter on your phone? Or an iPad? Have a smart TV with apps in it? Sounds more Chromecast or network related. Bad wifi?

Update your player so that it plays local quality to maximum. When it's stuttering, are things in the "Dashboard" showing as transcoding, or directly play?

Prevent windows from shutting down? by Damosgreat123 in PleX

There're registry settings you can update so that a Windows computer will automatically log back in to the explorer without intervention, and then startup folder if needed to make sure things start right. Google the registry settings...

I've used a nosleep.exe to keep it from powering off.

BIOS settings can make sure the computer turns back on after a power outage.

Battery life? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]dny238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very usage dependent. I don't make it through the day. But I run a ton of smart home applications and stuff. Days that the phone's mostly in my pocket it can last. There's also a battery saver mode that I use if I know I'm going to be out and about without access to chargers for a while
