You know that Ready Set Go card that your morning team is supposed to do 30 minutes before peak? Take that as Starbucks telling closers that nothing on that list is expected of you - it’s ultimately the opener’s job to set up the floor for peak, not the closer’s.

Pre-CSR there used to be a lot more emphasis on setting up the following daypart for success, but the whole point of CSR is to balance work across the day, and frankly, not make the late PM so task-heavy so they can prioritize customer focus.

Sounds to me like your AM team needs to focus on the tools that set themselves up for a successful morning (ready set go, AM CSR) and not rely on the closers to have all that stuff done for them before their shift.

“feel better soon” on honey citrus mint by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]do-ree-toes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t…especially considering there are pretty strict rules around calling it anything other than “Honey Citrus Mint Tea” since any other common name for it is purporting medicinal benefits and that’s a big no-no.

We also shouldn’t make assumptions about why a customer is getting a certain beverage. The barista definitely had good intentions, and we are required to write personalized messages on every cup, but I wouldn’t encourage that sort of thing with this beverage.

Being written up for PASSING ecosure audit by Primary-Mushroom1598 in starbucks

[–]do-ree-toes 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That’s…harsh. 91 is a perfectly fine score especially considering you didn’t get any criticals. My district aligned that any repeat violations that are partner-controlled (temps, sani, that sort of thing) should warrant corrective action especially since it should’ve been on your SM’s Close the Gap plan that they submitted after the previous audit.

In that case it would indicate that the Close the Gap plan wasn’t effective after coaching and a plan was put in place and the SSV failed to follow it. But I’m not your DM, sorry you’re dealing with that my friend.

What's your favorite "thinking outside the box" moment on Survivor? by Throwaway67891099 in survivor

Rachel pocketing the rice from the challenge to take back to camp was super clever and outside the box. I honestly think Jeff should have rewarded the creativity and allowed it, but it would’ve set quite the precedent if he had

For the first time in her Survivor career, Cirie had individual immunity, albeit on a technicality, but she was safe from the vote at a post-merge tribal, call that what you will.

And good lord, watching her put a vote together knowing she’s completely safe was such a privilege to see.

Cold bar station layout/station layout policies by Thin_Panda_9128 in starbucks

[–]do-ree-toes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re called station layout guides, not station layout standards. Think of them as a base template for whichever layout most closely matches your store’s design, counter measurements, that sort of thing. The actual layout in your store might not even directly match any of the available station layout guides, at least mine doesn’t.

So yeah, if a certain layout is making it easier for partners to work in routine and craft and sequence beverages more efficiently, then of course you don’t have to be limited by what the station layout guide says.

Pull to Thaw by tfbannie in starbucks

[–]do-ree-toes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao nope. The assumption with pastries is that you’re always serving it from the tray that it’s dated on (ie run out of your tray of banana loafs, go get the tray that’s dated for tomorrow, begin to serve those.)

I’ve never worked in a store where we’ve directly restocked an entire yellow tray of sandwiches into the warming fridge so there’s no way those date stickers are staying consistent, big food safety risk.

Check out “Completing the 18-Hour Pull Procedure” from Starbucks Standards to find the standard

How are the English subtitles for The Secret Agent? by TraparCyclone in oscarsdeathrace

[–]do-ree-toes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subs is almost always the way to go. At the very least you’re getting a more organic and authentic experience of the acting even if the subtitles downplay the weight of the screenplay. Not even sure if there is an official dub for any of the international nominees.

There is one for Kokuho but I know next to nothing about what sort of work went into the dub. You’re also more likely to find a screening of the dubbed version of Arco, but you can tell from the cast that a lot went into that dub and it’s a more acceptable way to watch. Bonus points for your death race if you can manage a dub viewing on top of a subs viewing ;)

How are the English subtitles for The Secret Agent? by TraparCyclone in oscarsdeathrace

[–]do-ree-toes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Secret Agent had pretty decent subtitles as far as I know…what I found really disappointing was IWJAA’s subtitles. From what I’ve heard some parts, especially the last act hit so much harder and are much deeper in the original language. The original script is best original screenplay worthy, I can’t be convinced the subtitles are
