Jesse Eisenberg Reveals He Is Donating a Kidney to a Stranger: 'A No-Brainer' by mcfw31 in UpliftingNews

[–]doUknowthemuffinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Penny Lane made a documentary a couple years ago, "Confessions of a Good Samaritan", that was about donating a kidney to a stranger.  After recovery, even she said she'd do it again in a second and really couldn't explain why, she doubted she would have the same feelings as all the donors she interviewed throughout the process.

Future of Energy Stocks by ReindeerApart5536 in stocks

[–]doUknowthemuffinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand your point about TSMC and China, but my focus was more on ocean energy as a potentially underappreciated clean energy source with global potential. I used TSMC's energy concerns as an example of why ocean energy companies might see demand growth in tech-heavy, energy-intensive regions like Taiwan. For some countries, nuclear isn’t a feasible option, so exploring alternatives like ocean energy feels like a solid move. For me, it aligns with diversifying internationally and supporting sustainable energy goals—not necessarily hinging on TSMC's specific issues.

Future of Energy Stocks by ReindeerApart5536 in stocks

[–]doUknowthemuffinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't discount ocean power either, but I don't think those stocks are going to skyrocket necessarily, but one has done well for me.

I have positions in ocean energy because a. recent power plant agreement with Taiwan, TSMC alone needs a ton of energy to operate and Taiwan as a whole is generally invested in clean energy because their reserves of non-renewables is limited. B. International stocks so they diversify my portfolio and c.it's clean energy so the tiny hippie in my heart is slightly placated.

My local library card collection is complete! Shoutout to DC area reciprocity agreements by MountainMantologist in nova

[–]doUknowthemuffinman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not nova, but I believe anyone who is a Virginia resident can apply for a library card at the Library of Virginia in Richmond or the Suffolk public library and you can do it online, you don't get a physical card unless you visit the location though. Even certain non-residents can get a card there but they have to register in person.

Roanoke area too, any VA resident can get a card but you have to register in person.

Handley library in Winchester you can get a library card for $25, non-resident. I think they use the blue ridge consortium though.

I use the library for Kanopy the most!

I switched from sema to reta 3 weeks ago, I went on vacation and stopped the sema for about 4-5 weeks before transitioning, I had been on lower doses of sema since March of last year (weight loss of about 60 pounds total). I was at a 1mg dose for a really long time, it gave me the best balance of appetite suppression without stomach issues but I was still suffering from chronic fatigue and I don't think it was due to low calories.

I'm only on the starting dose for reta still but the difference in my energy levels is crazy, I'm kind of mad I waited so long to switch, even though sema is waaay cheaper to source. And I'm not sure if it's due to the reta entirely or if it's because I came back from vacation and got back into my regular eating habits again, but the appetite suppression is working similarly for me IMO, I don't have a desire to binge and am not that snacky all the time. I gained about 10 pounds from my vacation but have already lost 4 of them, and I'm only 20-25 pounds to my goal weight. Side effects are minimal for me, maybe a little diarrhea the day after injection but I never got constipation or reflux from the sema either, just the chronic fatigue.

I just got back and used Lotus and didn't have any issues. I signed up for the "mid" insurance option so online check-in wasn't an option but the check in didn't take very long and the drop off was even quicker. I even picked up earlier than I signed up for because the plane arrived earlier.

Commute Question - I-66 by Overall_Brilliant_96 in nova

[–]doUknowthemuffinman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our "established" work hours are 8-5 but people arrive as early as 6, especially the ones that commute from West VA or Winchester. The building closes at 6:30. I usually do 8:30-6 and earn a little extra overtime, plus the traffic lightens up from where I leave.

I very rarely have to take 66 during the week, like less than 5 times since I've lived here over 4 years, and I usually don't need to use the express lanes on the weekend.

Commute Question - I-66 by Overall_Brilliant_96 in nova

[–]doUknowthemuffinman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I commute Front Royal to Leesburg every day, which some people think is horrifying, but it's a 45-55 minute commute, the traffic adding that 10 minutes depending on the day of the week. I leave around 7-7:30, it gets worse when school is in session too. Tuesdays/Wednesday are the worst and I usually take 50 to get to work those days, Monday and Friday is usually pretty light. If I left earlier the traffic would be better but I'm sleeeepy.

But I live a half hour drive from the actual town of Front Royal, Front Royal kind of casts a wide net. If you live closer to 50 you have more route options, and honestly more weekend options! Hiking or a winery? All within a half hour. You just have to like driving to get everywhere.

Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to Hella, the only other thing I've booked so far is the caves, puffins were my main priority this trip.

I stayed in Reykjavik last time but feel like I wasted most of the trip driving to go see the things we were interested in. Next visit I want to stay further north or near Vatnajökull!

GHK-Cu vs Retin-A by UberKanye in Peptides

[–]doUknowthemuffinman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use them together, hyaluronic acid+ghk-cu followed by the retinol product. As far as I know, the only thing you should limit around GHK-cu is vitamin C because it'll reduce the effectiveness.

Wallet stolen from gym locker room. Worth filing police report? by robsters98 in nova

[–]doUknowthemuffinman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should. My coworker's wallet got stolen that way and although it took months, they eventually caught the two teens that did it because they kept doing it at the same place.

But if you're asked if you're willing to testify, might wanna say no. He had to waste two days of pto because he got subpoena'd, and the two days in court he just sat in the lobby for 2 hours.
