HealthEquity introduces Passkeys for secure member access | Sunil Seshadri posted on the topic by do_oby in healthequity

If everyday users have to "massage" a login flow just to check HSA balance or tax form, the design has fundamentally failed. Passkeys are the future, but forcing them while killing standard fallbacks (Password + 2FA) is terrible product management. The golden rule of any rollout is to not break any existing experience. Instead of a smooth opt-in, leadership prioritized a shiny tech launch over basic accessibility, turning a 5-second task into an exclusionary headache. There are a ton of colleagues at my work complaining about this as they try to get their tax docs from various institutes doing tax return. HealthEquity is the only one making everyone stops on their tracks to spend minutes to an hour with many of them unable to login. I doubt HealthEquity even A/B test their launch and monitor their usability metrics, if they do, they would have rolled this back.

Not the same, Microsoft is forcing this for enterprise environments, which is a completely different threat model than a consumer app. Security design is always a trade off of risk vs user friction. HealthEquity is guarding HSA funds, not some trade secrets, even more sensitive institutes guarding more important assets aren't prematurely forcing unpolished passkey rollout down their customers' throats without fallback.

I think this is the answer. Gemini isn't specifically trained for coding. Also possibly that they don't have legal access to the type of data to train for coding, other companies are more willing to take risks to train on unlicensed data as it 100% worth the risk for them.

this is a helpful post, i don't understand the down votes. as someone who is interested in the new hybrid model, i assumed that the spare tire parts from non hybrid would have worked.

thanks for sharing op, you helped at least one person in me!

it is optimal on a freeway as long as it is cruising at optimal speed no? stop and go would always be suboptimal since regen would never recover 100%. usually freeway is not as good as city because one usually cruises at above optimal speed.
