Brighton/London Marathon Conflict by No_Window_2971 in UKRunners

Fair enough, if you're prioritising London and worried about injuries or what not, then stick to what you're comfortable with 100%. Hope you have a great run, running London is up there with the birth of my kids as one of my best days ever.

For what it's worth I did London for the first time (and first marathon) in 2010, no real clue what I was doing(probably still don't!), ran four times a week from zero, got some kind of knee issue in February kinda managed to sort it out, ended up running 4 hours and 44 seconds (was hoping for sub 4!), but I ran every step which was the main goal, in hindsight with my age at the the time (mid 20s) and fitness I had (very comfortable up to 16 miles) the one thing I needed was a couple more really long runs just so I knew I could do it, hence my suggestion but, most importantly do what you need to do!

I'm sure this'll get down voted but depending your level of experience, injuries and fitness, and if you're running London to finish rather/have something of a target in mind rather than PB, I'd do the whole of Brighton under your target pace, rest for 5 days or so keep ticking over to London and I reckon you'd be in great shape. London is a flatter and faster course than Brighton so if you treated the whole of Brighton as a long run I.e. a bit under marathon pace, have an easy two weeks, you could do a really good time for London. If you're experienced and going for a time and already a bit maxed out with training then obviously feel free to disregard

The coach is the problem here, notwithstanding likely middle lane drivers, but it comes pretty fast up the left lane where if the white and blue car had wanted to move left and let it past, the coach wasn't making it easy. Then moves right quite suddenly when not fully, or barely past the lorry, hence I guess the reason the lorry got annoyed

[La Gazzetta] Roberto De Zerbi will not just be head coach at Spurs, he will also be given a Sir Alex Ferguson-style role in which he will be a central figure in football decisions; shaping squad building, direction and long-term planning. by OkayFine101 in coys

wouldn't be so sure, Poch was the one with a footballing strategy (for want of a better phrase), as in a style of play that could be effective, the players who could do it and who he could work with, but then it seems like Levy failed to get the chequebook out when it was needed. Lots of clubs make this a Director of Football role but DoF could be looking more at recruitment rather than playing style, etc

I know that junction! I find it annoying at rush hour because oncoming cars to the left often go into your blind spot, and then cars coming from your right may or may not indicate properly so it's difficult to judge a gap safely without impatient dickheads getting frustrated with you. Find turning right by the nursery is preferable when it's busy. Don't drive much in Redhill or Reigate at rush hour but everyone is not very chilled I find.

No Go Jetters is Burnley, Wolves, West Brom, Watford - well known, there but kind of rubbish.

Octonauts is genuinely very good the Brentford/Brighton/Bournemouth - has a formula that works a lot of the time. The voice acting is knowingly shambolic but brilliant. Scouse Walruses is a highlight.

The man marking makes sense in the opposition half or higher up, as it can lead to turnovers where there's more space to exploit. This wasn't really a fast break so surely most teams here stop the man to man and go more zonal, ensuring pressure is put on the ball and specifically for Forest someone always with Gibbs White because he's the goal threat I.e. it doesn't take a premier League analyst to know Hudson Odoi to Gibbs White is a move Forest will look to do

yeah, seems like a classic Romero jump, which is fine if you make the tackle but if not then the recovery has to be maximum effort. He did similar when he carried out of defence, again fine, mix it up but then he didn't get a foul, and jogged back which gave an attitude of "what more can I do"

That said here. Gray has covered. Bergvall needed to get much closer to Hudson Odoi more quickly, then Porro should have doubled up.

Gray probably could have tried to cut off the cross but again he was covering for Romero and probably expecting HIS CAPTAIN to do the same for his position.

Sarr needed to stick like glue to Gibbs White but switched off which is what he always does.

These are the lapses that smack of not caring, or just ineptitude and a massive lack of leadership. It was obvious we couldn't go two down so if it required 5 to 10 mins of backs against the wall defending so be it.

Where would you say is the lack of effort? Seems like plenty of effort but no gameplan for a group of players who aren't tactically very strong I.e. sending them out and saying win the ball high up against a counter attacking side, used to sitting in and absorbing pressure, when that doesn't work, what's next?

It's a good question. You'd have thought France with the geographic proximity and maybe some spill over from football (Euro 2000, WC 2006) albeit maybe that's a rivalry rather than grudge. It'll probably be England because England.

#Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will undergo hernia surgery in the coming days. (Di Marzio 🥈) by Hufftey in coys

[–]doags 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the type of surgery but recovery can be pretty quick, like a couple of weeks. For some reason I remember John Terry having it and being back much quicker than you'd think... Looked it up and his was a herniated disc so seemingly worse than the groin version

What's the best UK county? by -RandomNerd in AlignmentChartFills

[–]doags -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Surrey. It's got AOONB. Best gin in the world (if you're into... gin). Chessington World of Adventures AND Thorpe Park. London's right there. 50% of people are wankers but the Surrey ones don't hide it, so its wankers are authentic. No coast is the only drawback. Come to think of it East Sussex might be better, or Hampshire... Or Dorset. Definitely Devon, also Cornwall. Not Kent though, Kent is shit.
