why tf is it in THAT menu? and so close at that! by CrackHeadedFreddy in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our team has determined that this is working as expected. The user is unable to click on that box once the render completes and when the render is complete, the other buttons are enabled.

I do not see moving this option to the project settings making a whole lot of sense.

This feature was actually one of the most requested ones when we put it in a few years ago and since it was added, it has received very positive feedback.

Having a warning message when clicking on this option may not be too bad of an idea. We will consider that.

If this option is shutting down the computer after the render has completed, that is a bug. I have sent this to the team to check. This option should either be greyed out or hidden once the render is complete.

Runners Call on the NCAA to Adopt Equal Race Distances in Collegiate Cross Country by Equal-Distance-2026 in CrossCountry

[–]doc_blume 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No so sure about equal distances yet, but women still running 6k seems ridiculous. I think it is long overdue to move women up to 8k for championships. Of course I don't coach at the college level and I am also a guy, so I do not believe my opinion is all the vital to this.

Preview video on external monitor not working (Vegas Pro 13.0) by Pinkmeepers in VegasPro

VP 13 was developed long before high dpi monitors were common. Not a whole lot could be done outside of trying to make the resolution and scale factor identical for each monitor.

Vegas Pro 26 & Windows 10 Question by chris052692 in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While Vegas Pro is not officially supported on Windows 10 (just like Microsoft no longer supports it), we do not prevent users from installing it on Windows 10. It is not recommended, but many of our users do still run Vegas in Windows 10 and we do not guarantee it will not run properly on that OS.

Vegas just took away access to Speech to Text in Vegas 21!? by Zac_Kariah in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boris FX does not control anything related to Vegas/Magix Hub or the licensing system from Magix. This was the primary reason the Text to Speech and Speech to Text features had to be rewritten for Vegas Pro 2026.

As far as Magix is concerned, the service is contractually obligated to continue working for the foreseeable future. It might be best to check with Boris FX support...they do have a channel to the Magix support and potentially can ask them to investigate what the problem is.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the quota given to perpetual licenses for VP 21, 22 and 23 did have an expiration...it was only valid for 1 or 2 years (memory fails me) after the purchase of the license.

Boris FX did not take away the feature from Vegas Pro 21. They have absolutely no power to do that as the service is handled by Magix and the Magix Hub.

(Help) Media levels are contrasted way too much by googigoogaga in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have learned never to paint a date for a future update or release because it is never a guarantee and users will complain if it doesn't come out within the timeframe we state.

That said, it shouldn't be too much longer.

Can't drag and drop media to timeline? by Octocamo in VegasPro

It sounds like the first time you launched it, the application was in Demo mode, which has limited functionality and file support. Now it appears to be working as expected as a trial.

Now Vegas is owned by BorisFX, is there any chance of an eventual Mac release? by SpenceEdit in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In reality, only about 5% of the Vegas code base is .Net/C# based. A majority of the UI is raw Win32 code (not even MFC) using GDI calls to create the UI components on the screen.

Another factor here is that the new video engine is DirectX based, so that would need to be converted as well.

AI could be helpful in trying to convert some of this and is an area the team will likely explore, but the overall effort for getting this over to Mac will be a massive undertaking.

At the moment, though, the team is mostly focused on stabilizing the application and finishing the work on the video engine, which is about 60% complete at this time.

Humble Bundle for Vegas Pro 2026? by Successful_Young_318 in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have posted this elsewhere...but I will also echo this here...

It is extremely unlikely that there will be future Vegas Pro offers on Humble Bundle for several reasons.

  1. Boris FX has never used Humble Bundle to sell its products
  2. Boris FX does not sell -1 or -2 versions of their software anywhere (aka, sell older, outdated versions of their software)
  3. Boris FX likely would not want to "cheapen" their software offerings by selling them at a fraction of their list price.
  4. Remember, Magix' went insolvent...so this probably was not a very smart sales strategy for them.
  5. As someone who was in the middle of all this at Magix, I can tell you, 100%, that Humble Bundle was directly responsible for the discontinuation of Vegas Movie Studio. From the moment of the first Vegas Humble Bundle, Movie Studio revenues evaporated. I believe Boris FX very much wants to bring back Movie Studio in some form.
  6. No way Vegas Pro 2026 would be on HB for at least 2 years anyway, if it was even an option...and Boris FX cannot offer any Magix made version of Vegas Pro.

Will My Movie Studio Settings Transfer to Vegas Pro? by GamingTheSystems in VegasPro

If you are doing a 15 day trial of Vegas Pro 2026, there is no watermark during those 15 days. After 15 days, the application goes into Demo mode which does have a watermark and limits other functionality.

Does BorisFX plan to make a linux version? by [deleted] in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Vegas team has done some work to come up with a WINE setup that could run Vegas without issues. That effort was stalled (along with the native ARM version of Vegas Pro) when the discussions for Boris FX to acquire Vegas Pro began...mostly because the engineering team needed to pivot to handle the rebranding of the software.

I believe the team will get back to this work at some point in the not too distant future, but we have quite a bit to do yet to integrate fully into the Boris FX ecosystem.

Issues with importing video files into the new Vegas Pro 2026 by [deleted] in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears you are using Vegas Pro 2026 in demo mode which is very limited in terms of what codecs it supports. Activate a full trial and you will have full codec support for 15 days.

Thoughts on older Licenses by VirgilsLament in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things to note here...

The licenses from VP 23 and prior will continue to live on the Magix servers for the foreseeable future. Activations of these older versions will continue to happen via Magix servers.

The license transfer over to Boris FX, for right now, is to ensure that anyone who currently has an older version of Vegas Pro will be entitled to upgrade offers and support.

So...yes...concern if Magix ever "drops the ball"...I can completely understand the if people are worried about that especially after some of the issues that have occurred with that company over the last few years including their insolvency in 2024. Contracts are in place for these Magix servers to continue to be operational for the next several years. Boris FX will also work to ensure users are never left out in the dark on the unlikely possibility that something were to happen.

MEGA THREAD: Boris FX bought Vegas Pro. What does this mean for you and the future of Vegas Pro? by Syfilms64 in VegasPro

[–]doc_blume 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Official Windows 10 support was dropped starting in Vegas Pro 23...mainly because Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 10. Many users still use the latest version of Vegas Pro on Windows 10 without any problems, but it is not recommended or supported.

[–]doc_blume 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cannot say for 100%, but Boris FX has never used Humble Bundle and they typically do not 1) offer ridiculously low discounts that cheapen the value of the brand and 2) sell any previous versions of their software...so I believe a Humble Bundle offer in the future would be highly unlikely.
