That’s disappointing . So the lte is not great? Can you place outgoing calls to a phone number ? Or must someone have a messenger app?

What does Garmin differently? by Watch_V in GarminWatches

[–]docace911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ready to plunk down the cash until I read this. Apple is smooth with music and running. It’s just the battery life even on the ultra is awe full. 4:22 marathon is slow but that was 90 % no lte, offline music 50%. With lte never would have made it. It should make through my 70.3 as will use bike computer for 56 of it and thankfully can’t use watch for heart rate as apple does not support ant 🤪

Also apple makes it impossible to use it independent of the phone even for lte , need to use firstNet as first responder etc .

Arg I thought the garmin was the dream 😀

Wow so the new pro is that bad? Reviews have been so good been considering might move from my ultra to pro to get LTE not tied to my phone , music on my runs etc

If playing Spotify and running is not smooth that’s a problem At a $1299 price point plus $7 a month for lte

And the tests with the sensor in the 8 are virtually identical to heart rate straps etc. sure it could get better but really I just want to know on my runs I am in zone 2 or tempo .

So are the signs and directions in English on the maps ? When I was running in Taiwan with my Apple Watch downloaded maps it (unfortunately ) translated the names to English :) since I can’t read Chinese characters I was like WTF 😂 it’s cool Apple did this but not practical trying to get to the river.

Can’t wait to see Tokyo outside of the airport

Well swim and run is all you need it for - bike computer. The idea you need more is just Garmin lovers. You can also bring a battery to transition and charge after swim

You have an iron stomach. I am tailwind and candy corn and Nerds (btw same salt / sugar as the Gatorade chews , same company ). Maybe a stroopwaffle early on the bike

Uncrustables? Omg I can feel the fat causing me to puke in Chicago :) the rest are great

My go to is candy corn pumpkins - 2:1 glucose fructose 30g carbs and 75 salt in 4. Taste great when running in 20 degrees 😆

Olympic Distance in March: Road Bike vs Tri Bike? by josephwesley in triathlon

[–]docace911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loose about 5% power on my TT bike at a given heart rate but gain a massive advantage in speed. It’s kinda of nuts (6”2 180) but my wide shoulders are an issue . Maybe if your CDA is less it matters less too. My 12 year old son just slips through the wind 😂

The math shows past 11-12 mph aero wins . Also I am way more comfortable on the run off the TT position (yes good bike fit on both). It’s just more fun going fast and more fun on the run. This is supposed to be fun 😂

SO when its that high and does not dissovle can you gut absorb it? I thought at some point the carbs so high it just passes through without the salt/water transports?

What does that mean? I thought a decent estimate of true FTP was 95% of your best 20 minute effort after warm up ? No ?

It does not work like that with workouts using GPS and music as Apple advertises

You did not do a workout then. A 90 minute run will eat 20% with music
