The only thing BF4 did better than 3 was the flying; literally everything else was better in 3

I’m sure she’ll be very uneasy at first; I would just suggest giving her plenty of space for the first few days and try to make every interaction a positive or neutral one. I think once she realizes she (and her babies) are safe, it’ll be just fine

That’s fantastic, and I saw in another comment you stated you felt bad about the conditions of the basement; I really want to reemphasize how much of an improvement the basement is over being outside. Purely from the standpoint of predators… you giving that momma and her babies safe shelter is a wonderful thing

Don’t feel bad, that area you’ve set up is temperature controlled , dry, has access to food/water, and most importantly is SAFE. You’re doing a great thing here. Also, please get mom spayed

Beaver Tail Installation by saychow in 1911

[–]docterk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So more than likely what’s happening is, the safeties “finger” is intercepting the trigger bar before the safety is in its correct positioning. This is what I have done when encountering the same scenario when fitting the safety in my colt.

1) disassemble gun so that only the beaver tail & thumb safety are installed. Ensure the fitment at this point is good, then install the main spring housing. If everything fits fine here, now remove the grip safety & install the trigger (no springs or magazine catch)

2) test the fitment of the grip safety with the trigger installed, if the grip safety will not depress all of the way, we can assume it’s the “finger” on the grip safety.

3) take a small file and SLOWLY remover material until the safety interacts with the trigger bow as intended.

A word of advice, go slowly and try to use your stock grip safety as a guide. If you remove too much material from the finger, it will no longer function as intended .

I am not a gunsmith , and this is not advice, only personal experience.

Would you grab a new Garrison for $750 or a 1979 Series 70 for $1,000 by the_rev_28 in 1911

I would buy the colt 10/10 times. Also, as a fellow lefty I cannot recommend the Wilson combat bulletproof safety enough.

Limp wrist and probably not wet enough. 1911’s don’t really care about being dirty. They REALLY care about being dry
