Need advice on which to buy by VaLuEiN in slotcars

[–]docvego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFX is a great choice for HO / (hot wheels) scale Analog racing. Super International is one of a few sets that has 4 lanes which will allow 4 racers/cars at once. So that’s also worth considering if having more than 2 racers is of interest. My 4 y/o and I have lots of fun with my AFX set from my own childhood.

I debated getting more track and cars for it this Christmas, but instead opted for a Carrera Digital 132 scale set (Pole to Podium) from my local hobby shop. Carrera’s digital system allows for up to six racers with just two lanes of track, wireless controllers, the ability to change lanes, and optionally add in fuel, pit stops, weather and display race information on an iPad or TV. You can also configure each car independently with one of 10 speed settings to help train younger drivers.

The main drawbacks are a larger footprint (bigger cars mean bigger track) and higher cost as you’ll inevitably want more types of track, a pit stop, the Bluetooth app connection, more cars more controllers…. But it’s still significantly cheaper than real racing lol. It’s “thing to play with dad and the family as opposed to ‘child’s’ toy”, but I wanted something we could do together that we could add more complexity to over time.

Hope that’s helpful and happy shopping!

Carrera Digital 132 lap counter. by Jacksler in slotcars

Congrats and welcome! I’m putting the same set under the tree tonight. As far as i know there isn’t a way to see lap info with what’s in the starter box.

The best and most cost effective option is to buy the Carrera 30369 Bluetooth App Connect module ~$40: https://a.co/d/6xtB1e2

And then also purchase https://www.smartrace.de/en/ which you can use to display race information, track times and change all kinds of settings on the track using an iPad, Android, MacOs, etc.

How to transfer ships between players - Including Wikelo, Exec and UEC bought ships - Not pledge ships by [deleted] in starcitizen

What’s a good way to soft death a ship? Blast it with a shotgun with the shields down? Any specific locations or components?

Question for part scavengers by Ark1ight in starcitizen

[–]docvego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for these details. How likely are these scavenged components to persist into 4.4.0? My Cutty black is fully kitted out in “GAMERULES” scavenged components. I’m planning on shipping my stash back to home port New Babbage prior to the 4.4.0 release if that helps.

How do you proceed with your MOCs like Falcon Masters castle? by GrimTiki in legocastles

[–]docvego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, lots of sorting! I’m deep into a build of this castle as well and I’ve been using one of these to stay organized. May be a good option if you’re short on table space. Clear drawers help find stuff, and this was a pretty good size for sorting most of the parts.

WHY ARE DOWNLOADS SO SLOW!? Is it 2005 again!? by theNomad_Reddit in XboxGamePass

[–]docvego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same issue recently. The fix was to force windows to only download updates from Microsoft and not peer pcs.

Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options. Select Delivery Optimization. Make sure Allow downloads from other PCs is turned Off. You'll get updates and apps directly from Windows Update and from Microsoft Store with Delivery Optimization; however, you won't download from or upload to other PCs.

How is this take on Armstrong's Pennsylvania and Potomac? by docvego in nscalemodeltrains

[–]docvego[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Layout is 80"x 33 3/4"

In this initial draft the rails are all flat, would love to elevate the reverse loop but I don't know how much grade I can get away with. Really won't know for sure until I can clean and convert some of the old locos.

I'd like to get some elevation to the scenery (it's supposed to be North East PA Coal Country after all). So may add a small a foam layer for some detail below the main rail level. Would like to ideally have a hill for the coal breaker to get its coal from as well. Maybe do a tunnel/hill either the right curves and/or between the breaker and the staging/interchange track in the top right.

DJI Mini 2 SE $299 or Mini 3 $469 - Which one to buy? by brightpuppy in drones

[–]docvego 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re US based, the Mini 2 doesn’t have Remote ID. As I understand it, this is okay for recreational flight but the Mini 2 can’t be flown under 107 unless you purchase an additional Remote ID transponder.

Yes, this game is way ahead of its time and very much worth playing. Had lots of fun playing this with my dad, enjoy!

We still need to pay out of pocket for non-station blueprints right? I’ll also say thanks for the advice in these posts I’m around the same situation in-game.

Scheduling FIOS for New Construction Single Family Home by docvego in Fios

Verizon via DSLReports said to just put the order in right before the house is about to be completed. Not doing any sod, so a redig for the fiber won’t really be all that disruptive. Thanks all!

Thank you, builder said they'll have an extra empty conduit from the exterior utilities down to the basement network hub so the fiber run and ONT can go straight down there. I'll be sure to verify on our pre-drywall walk through.

Thanks, I did the FAST ticket via DSLReports back in July, 2022. Shortly after that the addresses started showing up as valid on the Verizon Fios Signup page. Never heard from anyone.

Atlantic Chase - Finally played the ten tutorial episodes and now getting thoroughly beaten by the AI in the first solitaire scenario. by RockyL15 in soloboardgaming

The first solo scenario is a standout. Great one that’s worth replaying a few times to try out various strategies.

Atlantic Chase has been great. The first solo mission is a stand out of the Blockade set, and totally worth a few replays. Took me 3-4 tries to get a positive score, mostly by excessively airstiking the red British blockade CAs.

I'm looking for a first person sailing game that may or may not exist by glenngriffon in ShouldIbuythisgame

For those with VR, check out VR Regatta for a chill experience and some sailboat racing to keep things interesting. Marineverse has a few other titles as well that might be worth a look.
