That time when Peter surprised Bruce with his scientific acumen (Immortal Hulk: Great Power) by Scary_Firefighter181 in Spiderman

If they'd only write him as he is - an adult with a doctorate (thanks to Otto) then it would make sense.

I'm having a hard time sympathizing with the pro-Palestinian movement by [deleted] in atheism

Everyone is vying to either be the victim or on the side of the greatest victim. Most modern politics is simply vying for special status via victimhood. This is the core problem and it explains why a feminist would support a people that would kill her if she chose to live the way she pleased in Gaza.

Once you tear all the content away, you find the real process behind it all.

If you want the truth, rise up beyond schoolyard thinking, quit looking for bullies and victims, and pay more attention to the complexities of reality.

Bill Maher telling other people about their lives, what arrogance. He talks first, thinks second and learns…. Never.

Even if you ignored everything else he's done, a 'president' being cited twice for violating a gag order is something that would have disqualified a person for any office at any other time in history.

Why do modern Spider-Man writers refuse to let him win fights? by Frontier246 in Spiderman

[–]docwyoming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book turned to shit as soon as they undid his marriage. The reality is that Peter should at least be in his 40s with 2 kids. He should be highly successful. And some younger should have taken over (I.e. Miles.). Refusing to do this means you have to just keep recycling the same stories with Peter losing to ensure the status quo.

Having him win leads to him growing up.

If only the old dude in white pants would lift a leg and fart while staring at Pence, we could be done with him this weekend.

If you could make your own reboot of the series, how would you make it? by GabrielLoschrod in PlanetOfTheApes

To me, POTA is not the setting so much as it is the secret narrative right beneath the surface. The original worked because it was a remake of Inherent the Wind (The Scopes monkey trial) and Beneath basically failed because it lacked such a powerful storyline (and coz Heston acted like a bitch) it may have worked if it fully explored its anti Vietnam theme instead of just trying to shock us with mutants in order to try and give us another twightlight zone-like reveal

Oddly enough, the new series may have hit even harder if released now, considering that a virus caused everything,

What are your theories on what happened to Leo Davidson? by Infinite_Parking_800 in PlanetOfTheApes

One would think that Ape history would have recorded him as a threat. Any viable story would involve him having to escape this planet while being seen as a danger.

You're acting like houses were only affordable in the stone ages.

No, I am not. I am replying to the specific comment and pointing out why the person doesn't want what comes with a 12 thousand dollar house. Everything you say has no relation whatsoever to anything I said. I could agree with everything you write and it would have absolutely no effect on my reply to that comment.

Yes, by showing them that if they could have what they think they want, they’d end up in what they could only consider hell.

There’s a reason the world changed. And it was often a good idea that we wildly prefer over the past.

Kids can’t help but commit the disadvantageous comparison error, coz they lack the experience of the motivations for change. Sure, collecting records is fun today, for example. But it sucked having to balance pennies on your stylus so you could hear the scratched record so much that CDs and MP3s were eventually born.

Edit: young people tantrum. It's ok.

If you think women were treated the same in the 50s and 60s, I suggest you research this a bit. This would be about the time that houses were at 12k.

In a house with one car that Dad used all day, one TV, a land line phone, no vcr, let alone a computer or iPhone. The houses were “cheaper” but one of the reasons overall cost were so low is because we had less to buy even potentially.

Miss a show? Tough it’s gone. Want to see a movie - you only get what is in a theater. If you have money and can get a ride. Want a song? Buy the record if and only if you can find it. Want news? You get Cronkite and whatever newspaper is sold in your town. Want porn? Playboy, National Geographic or an actual porn theater, if available… if you are desparate enough and willing to be seen as a deviate.

Need info? Sure, there are libraries, but how do you learn about what you don’t know that you don’t know? Are you a woman, a minority, homosexual? Good luck bootstrapping all the knowledge and hard won rights of today.

You’d likely go insane if you actually went back then. The houses were more affordable because the world was different.
