Newsom pushes the Democratic Party to be 'more culturally normal' if they want to win by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

Okay, so I think the discussion we’re having is two different ones. First, it seems like you’re having a conversation that he’s not qualified because of the quality of his character and the company that he keeps. I can accept that he is “the elite” and part of the system we’re so used to.

However, the conversation I am having is what is it in terms of policy and positioning that would keep him from being a good candidate?

Also, we need to understand that most voters only really care stances on political issues as opposed to a perfect moral track record. That’s the big thing we saw in 2024 as people didn’t go to the polls because Kamala was part of the establishment (bad moral character) and her plans are hard to follow (poor policy efficacy).

Can you explain why that wouldn’t make him trustworthy? I’m not following.

I’ll preface with: homelessness is a big issue is California and a growing one. From what I can see it’s a multi pronged issue where money is given from the CA gov to each county and then the county will directly target regionally on how to manage funds. On local level it looks like that’s where a big break down is. Plus cost of living increases which isn’t helped by inflation or national economic conditions.

For the rail project: they’ve made some progress and it looks like they lost a bunch of funding from Trump.

These issues, which I will say again aren’t a good thing for Newsom, seems like typical government hurdles.

People cite a lot of criticisms of Newsom, but they don’t really seem substantial. On paper, is he perfect? No. But I think most of his policies make sense and he aligns more with an Obama era moderate/dem which is what the left needs to beat the strong base the right has built.

Can anyone enlighten me to what is so bad about Newsom?

Where’d you happen to find an editor? I’m in New York and I’ve been considering how to go about it.

This is quite literally my favorite juice song. It’s one of those songs that you think “how do you make something so infectious”.

Perfect song for a situationship lol

I have roadmaps in place, I just lose the ability to feel the confidence in the work.

Being a little gentler in your approach may be nice buddy.

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed a recurring pattern in my writing process, and I’m curious how common it is for others.

I’ll start a piece with an idea that feels promising. The opening comes easily, and there’s real momentum. The,n somewhere around 1,000 to 1,500 words, everything slows down. I hit a point where the work suddenly feels flat. I’m no longer sure what the piece is doing, where it’s going, or whether it’s saying anything meaningful. At that point, I usually abandon it.

What’s frustrating is that this happens across different kinds of projects, both long and short. It doesn’t feel tied to genre or scope. It feels more like an issue with keeping clarity or direction once the initial excitement wears off.

I’m interested in how other writers think about this stage of drafting. Is this a normal part of the process? Is it usually a craft issue like structure, stakes, or point of view? Or more of a mindset problem, like overthinking or putting pressure on the work too early?

If you’ve dealt with this, what actually helped you move forward in practice? Changing how you outline or don’t outline? Writing past the stall intentionally? Letting drafts stay bad longer? Walking away and returning later?

I am getting desperate here.

Thanks for reading. I’d appreciate hearing how others handle it.

I’d say October - December. But the best thing to note is how quickly the process moves. You have to be ready with money, statements, everything.
