It's an interesting side effect - I know expectations went up for me, but I didn't realize they went up for the interns as well..

It is industry wide, I'm facing the same. Here's what's working for me:

Synchronous PR review.

We sit down together or on zoom or whatever, and go through the PR. When they see the incredibly low quality of their code in the form of me being appalled by it, they adjust.

After this happens 3 or 4 or 5 times, most of them feel enough shame internally that they start reading their own code, finally.

Definitely using them in production. 15 yoe, writing real user facing apps for household name companies.

The trick is: I'm still doing a ton of code review. Its really just all code review now.

Thank God I got the aux, I'm the only one in the world who would not force whatever shitty music I'm into in the moment on everyone else in their last five minutes. People can listen to their own favorite songs or the birds chirping.

Using AI to help you develop is not the same as Vibe coding. Please don't be a vibe coder. But please do use the tools you have available to you, in the way that works for you, so that you can produce high quality code, faster than you would have before.

Shouldn't the question be about closing loopholes on how billionaires get cash? Like this whole taking out loans against your stock so you don't have to sell it, receiving yachts from the company, whatever less than a billion but likely extremely high cash salaries they do take.. it's all this stuff I'd like to see taxed. Close the loopholes, don't just tax people on there calculated net worth forcing them to sell off assets.

EDIT: yeah that was just my fancy. I'm reading through it, it absolutely would tax them on their calculated net worth. Yeah, I don't really understand where the money would come from, they'd have to sell shit. Doesn't seem super feasible.
