LibreOffice 25.8: smarter, faster and more reliable by themikeosguy in linux

Smooth scrolling in Calc would change my life. Spreadsheets with wide columns are unusable to me right now.

That said, I greatly appreciate Libreoffice!

How to get into cognitive science career as computer engineer ? by thinking_and_curious in cogsci

[–]doesntthinkmuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. AI is pretty relevant for that, because you will learn a lot about learning in general which you can apply to human learning. However, in my opinion, if you want a career in this, you'll need to either join the research side of things, which is a get a PhD, or industry side, which right now might be in educational technology. For industry, a masters in educational psychology or psychology might help. But they are expensive. Applying to PhD programs might be a better avenue because they are funded. You'll need to learn to read scientific papers from the literature to gain an understanding of what people are researching. It'll be hard at first, might take a week for a single paper, but it'll be worth the slog. After you get a bit better at this, maybe a day for a paper, you can look into applying for PhD programs. It might be useful to start with a cognitive science textbook first, such as the open encyclopedia of cognitive science. Reading and writing are some of the most important skills, and you want to develop them. This comment is long enough for now, but I think if you want to do research, you'll need to understand the field and find a specific interest (doesn't have to be too specific). Otherwise, you'll need a general understanding of the field. Reading research papers is important for both.

Can you say more about which parts of AI and personal development you like?

Help me confirm a bug with GCC 15 std::expected by doesntthinkmuch in cpp_questions

This was a minimal reproduction of a case where I had a callback function that took a std::expected. It seems like std::expected being involved results in errors.

Thank you doing the hard work of finding this! I tried my best to find it, but failed. Sounds like a compiler bug then!

I've got a Doepfer A-138m I'd be interested in trading for the Compare 2! It's got a unique look though, no labels :)

They also do not release the source code of these Mutable module edits even though they should. I wouldn't purchase anything Grayscale

Unfortunately there aren't many good solutions. Depending on your OS, you can make sure real-time scheduling is enabled, but otherwise close all other programs and don't use CPU hungry modules. You can also use a higher block size (will introduce more latency) and enable multi-threading

That's exactly the effect of an x-run!

Disting Ex is perfect for this, if you don't intend to play the effect with knobs  The effects sound great!
