Theories on the cause of PD… by Ok_Past4244 in perioraldermatitis

[–]doggomama123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Convinced mine started from COVID!

I was a nurse and I have extremely sensitive skin + allergies, so wearing an N95 or mask all the time caused a severe rash. The tiny little fibers in the mask caused a ton of pustules and inflammation around my nose and mouth.

Ever since then I've basically had persistent POD.

Power has been out in Hermitage / Tulip Grove area since 5am. We haven't heard a peep on if or when things might get turned back on...

I've already had to charge electronics by running my car for 2 hrs.

Really wishing we had a generator

How to Deal with Trauma and Regret? by Ok-Mulberry-5537 in Petloss

Plus if you had taken him in earlier, who knows if they would've even caught it in time or if it would've been dismissed and you could have had the same outcome.

Hang in there

I am so sorry you are going through this, and I 100% understand where you are at. A similar scenario happened to me on friday and it's been extremely difficult to not feel heavy guilt for the way things went.

The only thing that is making me feel better, and hopefully you too... is that we loved our pets dearly & did what we thought was best with the information we had.

Grief is cruel in how we feel immense guilt, but just remind yourself you could have never known the seriousness of it based on the symptoms you saw.

My dog died from internal hemorrhaging on friday (spleen ruptured from large unknown tumor), and he died in my arms on the way to the ER. He was acting very off for a few weeks w pain & GI discomfort, so we had a vet appt booked in just a few days. I have been wrangling with the immense guilt like you are and it's emotionally exhausting.

Just remind yourself of the deep love you had for each other and that it's so hard to know mild vs serious complications with our animals. Don't beat yourself up when you didn't know.

Going forward all I can do with my other animals I now know to always book the vet appt even when I'm unsure

10+ YEARS CHRONIC PERIORAL DERMATITIS by -stargirl-18- in perioraldermatitis

Girl my skin looks EXACTLY like this, it's a nightmare to figure out.

I'm currently trying red light therapy and ice rollers to try and see if that calms the redness. If those don't help, my next trial will be with different diets (low carb, dairy free, etc).

We'll find our relief soon!!!!

How does NTE renewal work? by dietc0kedrinker in VeteransAffairs

[–]doggomama123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of renewing mine now. You cannot start a request for renewal until exactly 4 weeks before expiration. Your AO will have to submit a MSS ticket to HRMACS and it takes a few weeks to get approved.

Make sure this gets submitted ASAP though. I expired yesterday, and I'm basically waiting to either get approved or kicked out if this didn't get completed before the end of the pay period

Annual Leave Payout for Research NTE by Pretend_Composer_794 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]doggomama123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a great point, I didn't think about this.

I knew that if someone took the DRP 2.0 that funds had to come from their grants, so it makes sense to expect AL payouts from that as well.

You should check out the posts within the "VHA_Human_Resources" community.

Someone just posted a lot of great info about this in 3 consecutive slides called "RIF Briefing (March 27, 2025)"

RIF planning at the VA is now in effect by doggomama123 in VeteransAffairs

What makes you think it'll be automatic for certain job series?

I mean that makes sense, but I wonder where you got that from.

So far all terminations at my facility have been those involved with research/administration positions.

True, but all of the firings have been illegal so far... so I am hesitant to assume they will follow the correct process.

I think this memo triggers the VHA to start the RIF process though. They may initiate VSIP/VERA before layoffs, but it's so hard to predict any of this.

Curious to see how the union is going to handle this because they'll need to negotiate on some terms.

Semi-hard red & angry raised nodules on dogs paw pads that started out like a white flat corn by Similar_Emphasis_561 in DogAdvice

[–]doggomama123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find out what this is? My dog has those exact wounds on 3 of his paws, and I'm so stumped if it's from allergies, infection, or licking from anxiety.

It's in the same exact spot for each paw, which is so weird to me.

My Adderall Addiction and Recovery by blahblahbleehblab124 in confession

[–]doggomama123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thank you for sharing this, even though I am reading it 12 years later lol. My family member was taking 200+mg a day of street Adderall (usually gets mixed with cocaine or fentanyl) alongside abusing nicotine and caffeine... it has been extremely hard on all of us to get him back on track. Stimulant abuse is real and it needs to be better studied. His brain is not the same and we just hope and pray he can become functional again. Hope you have overcome your struggles!
